Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh: The more-than-70-year-old mosque situated within the Saharanpur collectorate premises was bulldozed and flattened by the administration at around 5 a.m. this morning.
After news spread last night that the mosque was to be demolished, a large number of people gathered at the site. During this, the district magistrate (DM) calmed the crowd by saying that the mosque would only be sealed.
However, when people woke up this morning, they found the mosque had been completely razed to the ground.

Bittu Tabahi, the viral youngster who cleaned the heavily polluted Ajnar River in Biaora, Madhya Pradesh, has now shared a video showing people dumping garbage into the river again. He also revealed that while he was cleaning the river, he saw several people dumping waste right in front of him.

We need to change from within and develop better civic sense. We often blame the government for poor hygiene around us, but a big part of the responsibility lies with us too.

A seven-year-old Class 1 student, Samra Naz, approached Mau District Magistrate Anand Vardhan with a simple request: repair the damaged road leading to her school. She said the poor road makes her daily journey difficult. Samra told the DM that children often get hurt while travelling over the uneven stretch, while mud and slush leave their school uniforms dirty. She urged the administration to repair the road as soon as possible. The DM patiently heard her complaint and directed officials to inspect the road and take necessary action. Around 25 metres of the route in Ward 17 is reportedly still a poorly maintained kutcha stretch.
