Marc Cartwright Headshot Photography Actor headshots and corporate business portraits in Los Angeles. Premium studio sessions located in Studio City, CA. The rest, as they say, is history.

Marc Cartwright grew up in New York on Long Island’s East End. Partially raised by his grandparents who were avid fans of Hollywood classics, Marc developed a passion for film. At 18, he moved to New York City to study Mass Media/Human Behavior at NYU. While fulfilling an art requirement, Marc immediately fell in love with photography. This newfound love allowed him to combine visual narratives wi

th the study of human behavior. Marc moved to Los Angeles after graduating NYU, to pursue acting and had a very successful commercial and print career working for brands including Coca Cola and Tommy Hilfiger. After working with the best in the business, the behind the scenes is what genuinely piqued his interest. Viewing the business from the other side of the lens was his moment of purpose. Marc has shot an array of television and film actors, and placed his work in various publications both domestically and internationally. The full circle of his love for Hollywood classics as a kid, to creating visual images with the respected Hollywood actors has been a rewarding journey of purpose.

I don’t believe in "one size fits all" headshot sessions because no two actors are the same. From leading man vibes to gritty indie intensity, we build the look around your specific goals and essence instead of a template. 🎬✨

In my Studio City sessions, I focus on directing the actor, not just photographing them. We find the beat between the breaths that makes a frame stand out.

Ready to stop looking like everyone else?

A great headshot isn’t about the perfect pose; it’s about that split second where you stop “performing” and just exist. Whether we’re leaning into a theatrical mood or something more commercial, the goal is to capture a version of you that feels like the best day on set.

I’ve always believed that my job behind the lens is as much about directing as it is about lighting. I don’t expect you to walk in with all the answers. I spend our time together guiding you through the session, helping you find those subtle shifts in thought and energy that translate to the screen.

By the time we’ve found the rhythm, the camera disappears, and we’re just two creatives working on a character.

Stop guessing what casting directors want. 🎭

In a market as competitive as Los Angeles, your headshot needs to do more than look like you; it needs to capture your essence.

By capturing a high variety of looks in a single session, we’ve equipped this actor with a visual ‘toolbox’, making it easier to select the exact headshot that mirrors the specific character requirements in a casting breakdown.

🔥 Theatrical/Character: Grit, texture, and dramatic depth for film/procedural drama.

☀️ Commercial/Everyman: Approachable, warm, and high-connection for national campaigns.

💼 Creative Professional: The versatile “hybrid” shot for high-end industry profiles.

Your portfolio is your business card. If it isn’t telling a specific story, you’re leaving bookings on the table.

Which look are you currently missing from your deck? Let’s bridge the gap. 👇

When the hair is this iconic, the lighting just has to keep up. ✨ Had a blast capturing this vibrant energy for Rachel Kang ! Sometimes the boldest colors tell the best stories. 🎀 / 💄:

A great headshot isn’t only about looking your best, it’s about looking like you’re ready to work and know what you are doing. 📸

In a split second, a casting director needs to see “you”. My goal during a session at my (Studio City) Los Angeles studio is to provide you with a range of options that cover different energies without trying to predict a specific role.

The technical goal is simple: Clean lighting, accurate skin tones, and a clear sense of your presence. If your current actor headshots feel dated or don’t match how you walk into a room, it’s time to update.

Don’t just take a photo. Build a brand that makes a casting director’s job easy.

Your headshot is the first thing a casting director sees before they ever click "play" on your self-tape. 🎥✨

In a digital-first industry, your photo has to do some heavy lifting. It needs to tell a story and stop the scroll in a crowded breakdown. Swipe to see the range, from an approachable, high-energy commercial look to a grounded, theatrical presence.

If your current headshots aren't getting your tapes watched, it’s time for an upgrade. Give me a call to discuss your goals.

Bringing some warmth to the headshot world. 🍊✨

Had the absolute best time catching up with the incredibly talented Leah Aaronson in the studio. There’s nothing like the energy of a session when you’re working with a friend to capture that genuine spark.

We wanted to play with some bold, warm tones to stand out from the typical muted palette, and she absolutely crushed every look. From commercial warmth to theatrical depth.

Which is your favorite? 1, 2, or 3? 👇
