Here is my freehand graphite pencil drawing of Christine from several years ago.
While shopping I approached her mom shopping down the same store aisle. Days earlier I took an inventory of the body of my art and something occurred to me. I realized though I had numerous portraitures created over many years, still they were too few in sub categories. Too few for each of my portfolios to present a strong body of art for each category as a portrait artist. For the sake of consistency, I need to create a voluminous series consistency in my portfolio and I did not want to miss out on an upcoming annual art international contest I turned my focus to.

I met Christine's mom while shopping down the same store aisle. I introduced myself, etc. and explained an art goal. She granted me permission to take Christine's photo for which I drew this art piece you see and entered it into the annual international annual art contest I described, sponsored by their magazine. All was explained in advance that I wished to submit the rendered drawing of Christine as my art entry from the reference photo I took of Christine to draw.
Subsequently it reached the category among the last 100 finalist and was published in international magazine's edition which features the outcome of their international art shows contest. As promised, I kept Christine's mom updated on the status of the status of the art contest by forwarding correspondence from the shows sponsors to her for transparency. Christine's mom and she was pleased to receive news. the drawing won the large cash prize I would have shared with her 60 percent on the behalf of Christine.

I have to admit something, I made a misstep. Having had taken many photos during the stages of the rendering, I discovered mistakenly submitted the wrong photo from my phones photo gallery of the art rendering of the piece before the final rendering in such a rush to meet the deadline. I believe it cost me first place.

A freehand graphite pencil drawing I drew of my mom from a badly damaged heirloom black and white photo that needs restoration work.. I decided to draw the image. She took the photo at some time when I was a child and had not seen the photo for many yr. I gave the drawing to her among other birthday gifts that year.
