Rachel and her husband were filled with joy when they were expecting twin baby girls in June, ‘mono-mono” twin girls which is the rarest and most high-risk type of twins, occurring in only one percent of identical twin pregnancies. Very sadly and with broken hearts, Rachel shared that they lost their baby girl Elodie due to complications after her maternity photos photographed by me a couple of weeks before. Little baby Josephine Pearl is the surviving twin born on September 11th at 27 weeks and 5 days and was in the NICU for care. She was in the NICU for 93 days.

Her little brother Lincoln adores her and so does her Daddy.

I photographed Rachel and her family back in July when she was expecting twin baby girls. Little Josephine was the surviving twin. At our shoot, feeling uncomfortable and unattractive, Rachel affirmed that she “trusted me.” Those words pierced my heart and I treasured them so much. “Having a baby is like falling in love again, both with your husband and your child.” (Tina Brown)
Baby Cole was less than a week old for our newborn shoot. Carissa, the mother, looked like she didn’t even have a baby. She had the maternal glow and was so put together, which was so impressive.
Colman, the father, was such a dad photo shoot champion, even though he was also tired from the first days at home with a newborn.
Baby Cole is blessed with an adorable room filled with such meaningful mementos; his father’s rocking horse and newborn shoes from his own baby years and all of his mother’s special touches of faith and love as an interior decorator, a watercolor painting of their precious, protective Golden Retriever Beau (who I adored cuddling with) and Bible verses. I look forward to seeing their little family grow.
