I think we’re starting to miss the point of proposals. Girlies, I get it! We dream of the moment that our boyfriend is on one knee asking us to spend the rest of our lives together. However, I’ve noticed this shift on social media that maybe we are idolizing the how this happens instead of the “why”. We get fixated on wanting to look our best and have the “perfect” photos. I’m not saying it’s wrong to want it to be special or to even want photos (as someone whose job is taking photos). But why are we putting pressure on our boyfriends to plan this elaborate, Pinterest style proposal? Marriage requires trust and sacrifice. So why not trust him to know us enough to plan a proposal that is special to the both of us. Let’s bring back intentional and personal proposals!
