While on vacation in Arizona last month, we went to the Tucson Desert Museum and got to see their Raptors in Flight program. While Ravens are not Raptors, it was included in the program.

P.S. The bird on the cactus is a bonus bird :)

On July 22nd at Moskey Basin, I was sitting out on the rocks reading when I caught movement out of the corner of my eye. A moose and her calf were crossing the bay at the far end of the camping area. They were way too far for a photo and moving quickly, so I figured my chance had passed.

About an hour later, the family in the next shelter mentioned the pair was up on a ridgeline. I grabbed my 300mm lens and hustled over just in time to capture this moment before they disappeared back into the forest.

This stunning sunrise unfolded over Lane Cove on the quiet northeast edge of Isle Royale. The water was glassy, the sky full of pastel hues, and the mosquitoes? Relentless.

I was absolutely eaten alive while taking these photos… but honestly, the light was worth every bite.

The calm, the color, and the wilderness solitude made this one of the most memorable mornings of the trip.

Saturday night under the stars at Cherry Springs State Park was absolutely breathtaking. Known for its incredibly dark skies, this park in northern Pennsylvania is a bucket-list spot for stargazers, and it didn’t disappoint.

I spent the night capturing the core of the Milky Way stretching across the horizon, framed by the glow of astronomers at the Cherry Springs Star Party and the silhouettes of pines. Even managed to catch a few meteors streaking by.

Over the past few years, my photography has evolved in two distinct yet equally inspiring directions.

You’ve seen me share quiet moments under starry skies, wildlife in motion, and reflections from the trail.

But I’ve also found myself drawn to the energy of live music, capturing artists mid-performance, dramatic stage lighting, and the emotion of the crowd.

That side of my work now has its own dedicated space:

🎀 Drifted Light Studios for concert, artist, and music photography.

Evan Lee Photography will continue to focus on the natural world, astrophotography, wildlife, and the adventures that unfold far from the spotlight. 🌌🦊

Thank you for following both paths and supporting what I love.

On May 9th, thanks to a fantastic birthday gift from my mom, I spent the day at The Wilds in Cumberland, OH, an accredited conservation zoo, participating in a Wildlife Photography Workshop. After an in-depth session on composition and light, we boarded the open-air safari to photograph these incredible residents using a borrowed Tamron 150–500 mm lens.

From the majestic poise of the Greater one-horned rhino to the delicate patterns of sleeping cheetahs, each frame offers a rare glimpse into lives protected and cared for by dedicated conservation professionals in managed enclosures

Captured early this morning in Cleveland, Ohio, this total lunar eclipse bathed the moon in deep red hues, creating the stunning "Blood Moon." A breathtaking sight as Earth's shadow covered the lunar surface, revealing intricate craters and textures beneath the eerie glow.

My photo, "Cathedral of Pines," made the Top 3 in this week's 52 Frames: Black & White Challenge.

This shot was taken at Oak Openings Metropark in Toledo, Ohio, using a Sony A7III with a 14mm f/1.8 lens. I wanted to capture the towering symmetry of the red pines from a different perspective, looking straight up to emphasize the patterns and depth. The black-and-white edit helped bring out the contrast between the tree trunks and sky, creating a natural sense of movement.
