There are many images of me photographing during weddings, but this one, this one will always stand out the most to me.

The amount of chats we had had about their wedding day were endless, the amount of trust they both put into me for their photography was the same. It started from the very beginning during their engagement session. Them taking the leap and driving from Milwaukee all the way beyond the Madison area to meet me. They were one of the first people to know about our move to Montana, the first to know about our second baby, and one of the first people to know about my journey back to Wisconsin. Along with the other couples during that time frame.

This photo was taken on their wedding day, while I was about 8.5 months pregnant and still at it. I remember reaching for her hand and saying “praise God! You did it!” Sharing in a huge hug, and just an immense amount of joy for them.

I can’t put into words how grateful I am for the clients that trust me with their big moments in life, but I also can’t begin to say how grateful I am for them holding my big moments close too.

Our time may be short together, or a life long journey & no matter what that looks like, your story forever holds a place in my heart.

I just am really thankful for all of this.

One day, you’ll remember this differently.
Not just how you looked, but how it felt to be there.

Because sometimes the most beautiful photographs happen when you simply get to be together.

Before I photograph a wedding, I want to know more than your timeline and family photo list.

I want to know what matters. Who matters. What you chose intentionally. Why you chose the place you’re getting married. Which moments you’re already looking forward to. And what you would be heartbroken to realize wasn’t photographed.

Because I don’t expect you to know how every meaningful part of your wedding should be photographed. That’s my job.

My job is to take what you’ve shared with me, combine it with my experience, and pay attention throughout the day. Being present with you.

I’ll create photographs intentionally when guidance is needed. And I’ll step back when something meaningful is unfolding on its own. A lot of the times, images don’t need my help.

That’s why I believe wedding photography should be collaborative. The more I understand about you, the better I can recognize what matters when I’m there.

Your wedding shouldn’t look like anyone else’s.

And your photographs shouldn’t either.

It’s about the time again where the sun sets and creates the most magnificent orange you’d ever seen. A glow that is so undeniably radiant, it almost feels like you are in a dream. Wisconsin out does it self with sunsets in the summer, but in the fall, you can’t beat them.

It is truly the best time of the year, where I simply can’t get enough of what I do, for the people that trust me to do it.

There is nothing better than this, nothing. 📸

In my opinion, intentionality comes in many forms.

But when you have a strong faith, the smallest details can become incredibly powerful, holding meaning far beyond what meets the eye.

Like a cord of three strands.
A simple detail, carrying a beautiful reminder of what holds a marriage together.

I not only want to preserve the day as I see it. I want to preserve the fine details that encompass who you are, the things you chose because they meant something to you.

And I want those details to be cared for through my eyes, captured in their likeness, and documented alongside everything else that made your day yours.

The movement. The way your hands intertwine. The little details you may not recognize as significant in the moment. But then the album lands in your inbox. And suddenly, that “small” moment feels really big.

That is the kind of storytelling I care about.
Not just documenting your wedding day, but preserving the meaning woven throughout it.

There is something to be said for a bridal party that feels cohesive without feeling overly coordinated.

These neutral dresses gave the day a beautiful, understated foundation, while the florals brought in the color and personality.

Different silhouettes. Similar tones. Flowers that tied everything together.

Nothing competing with the setting. Nothing feeling overly themed. Nothing requiring every detail to match perfectly.

Just thoughtful choices that work together.

And I think that’s where intentional wedding design really shines.

Because creating a beautiful wedding isn’t necessarily about finding the perfect color palette, choosing the most current trend, or making sure every detail matches.

It’s about knowing what you want your day to feel like and making choices that support that feeling.

Maybe that means letting the bridesmaids wear different silhouettes.

Maybe it means keeping their dresses quiet so the flowers can bring in the color.

Maybe it means choosing something because it feels like you, rather than because you saw it everywhere on Pinterest.

You don’t have to make every decision the same way everyone else is making theirs.

You just have to be thoughtful about how the pieces come together.

How do I want all of these pieces to feel together?

That’s a question worth asking long before the wedding day.

Because your photographs don’t just preserve the people standing in them.

They preserve the choices you made when you brought the whole day together.

Hannah & Mike 🤍

Two of the most down to earth, gentle, fun loving souls you will ever meet.

And if you find yourself falling in love with a country girl, be careful because she just might convince you to leave the city behind and fall in love with the countryside, too.

The unmistakable love Mike has for Hannah is something I can hardly put into words, but it was incredible to witness. There’s a gentleness to it. A spontaneous, carefree kind of love. But most of all, there is a genuineness to it that you simply cannot miss.

From the moment we had our first call together, I felt like I had known them forever. By the time their wedding day arrived, it truly felt like two lifelong friends were getting married.

They were married surrounded by their loving family, their closest friends, and the memory of those who couldn’t be there to witness it all on a piece of family land nestled along the edge of the Ice Age Trail in the Driftless.

And somehow, the story gets even sweeter. Hannah and Mike now share their anniversary with her grandparents, a little thread of family history woven into the beginning of their own.

Truly, the roots run deep.

And I couldn’t be more honored to have been a part of it all.

Some photographs are created. Others are witnessed.

There are photographs I will intentionally create for you.

I’ll guide you into beautiful light. I’ll help you move through a scene. I’ll notice the details and make thoughtful decisions about how they are photographed.

But there is another kind of photograph I value just as much.

The ones that happen without direction.

The way your veil moves as you walk.
The way you hold your bouquet when you’ve forgotten about it.
The landscape you chose for your ceremony.
Your guests gathered around you.
The way your husband reaches for your hand.
The quiet moments that happen between everything you planned.

Those photographs aren’t created for the camera.

They are witnessed.

And I believe your wedding photographs should hold both, the images that were intentionally crafted, and the ones that could only have happened because you were fully living your day.

Images created simply by observing.
By paying attention.
By being in the right place when something beautiful happens without anyone asking it to.

I don’t want you to only remember how beautiful your wedding photographs were.

I want you to catch a glimpse of something you may never have seen if I hadn’t been standing right there.
