This morning out at Canyonlands National Park with my buddy Kevander. Quitting my job and following my passion has been the best decision ever, not to mention Moab, Utah is freaking beautiful!

“Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning to find out going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness is a necessity...”
― John Muir

It's been a crazy and incredible week at the Adventure Photography Workshop. My eyes are open to the beauty all around us and I'm ready to work my ass off. But first I am going mountain biking! Cache Creek Trailhead here I come!

This quote resonates with me here on my second day of the adventure photography workshop in Jackson Hole, Wyoming! It was great work with athlete Aicacia Young, who also happens to be from Austin!

This photo was taken October 15th, 2013 near Thorong La Pass in Nepal. It is the highest point I've ever been to at 5,416m (17,769ft) When I look through these pictures I yearn to go back...

SUP yoga photoshoot for Fit Fit Activewear took an unexpected turn yesterday when we couldn't rent any boards...
We shot anyway and ended up with some amazing pictures of Sara Bergmanson flying with the Congress Street bats!

I'm about to dive into a whole different world with my photography.

I've been lucky enough to have had a wealth of great experiences this past year. I taught English in Korea, rock climbed on the beaches of Thailand, trekked with friends in the Himalayas and explored the complexity that is India. With these experiences I've learned much about the world, people and especially myself and I have come to a realization.

I've spent much of my career waiting. Waiting for inspiration, waiting for the "right" story, waiting for a job to come along. It's led to stagnation and a huge amount of self-doubt. I'm done waiting.

I have also come to realize that I need to photograph what I love. I now know that unless I shoot what I love I won't have the motivation to work on it day after day. Aside from photography I love the outdoors, climbing, biking, swimming, running, and playing! I'm really just a big kid in all honesty so I am focusing on adventure photography. This change feels like a huge adventure in itself. I'm scared and excited all at the same time.

Of course I will bring my photojournalism roots with me and hope to include humanitarian and environmental issues in my work. In the end I hope my pictures will inspire others to do what they love and care for the people and world around them.
