Sally Halvorsen Photography

Botanical fine art photographer creating images meant to be lived with—on your walls, in your hands, and in the quiet moments between. 🌿

Growing up under the big skies of Montana, Sally developed a deep love of nature and the outdoors. After high school, Sally moved to Washington State and began creating her muse...a backyard garden filled with beauty and color which she documented using photography. Sally’s photographic pursuits helped her cope with a major change in her life path after the loss of her husband to cancer. She enrolled in macro photography workshop taught by Charles Needle and developed her landscape photography at the renowned Sante Fe Workshops under the tutelage of Moose Petersen. In the garden, Sally uses her macro photography to show a peaceful, uncomplicated world composed of vivid colors, fluid lines, soft backgrounds and immense detail. In urban environments, Sally uses the light, reflections and form to highlight details—details that are often missed in daily life. At the ocean or in the forest, Sally simplifies a scene to reveal the beautiful, intricate elements of nature. Sally is recognized internationally for her work which can be found in private and corporate collections throughout North America. She can usually be found in a garden somewhere - whether it is in her own back yard or at an exotic international location.

I thought I already did this but…🤪Because I had a couple of friends mention this would make a beautiful Minky blanket…here it is. Fall Medley Minky. It’s on the website and it is beautiful.

Since you asked… 🍂

Two of you mentioned that this photograph would make a beautiful blanket, and I loved the idea.

The Fall Medley Minky Blanket is now on my website. A little autumn color to curl up with.

Thank you for the inspiration. ❤️

I pulled out the quilt my mom made me several years ago. I’d just discovered Batik’s so I asked her if she’d make me a quilt. We had a lot of fun picking out the colors and then the magic happened. My dad even got into it by designing the boarder ♥️🥰

Good morning!

This is “She Blooms Unafraid” I am having so much fun with these! I’ll have her at Issaquah Goes Apples this Saturday from 9-2. Stop by and say 👋

Inspiration Shared

When I began painting these flowers, I realized they were becoming more than flowers.

Each one seemed to have a personality of her own, a little bold, a little sassy, quietly determined, beautifully imperfect, or simply unafraid to be herself.

They remind me of women I’ve known throughout my life, and women I may never meet. All of the wonderful, funny, strong, quirky and beautiful personalities that make us who we are.

She Blooms Unafraid is one of them.

Creating this collection has become my way of celebrating those little pieces of ourselves and sharing a bit of joy along the way.

Original watercolor art, made to be lived with. 🌻
