Every time I look up at those 24 karat gold spires, I can't help but giggle. The story goes that Walt wanted them to be real gold, but Roy (being the financial genius of the two) said it was too expensive. Walt (being Walt) didn't understand the word "no" though, so he waited until Roy went out of town and had the gold added. I would have loved to have seen Roy's face when he got the bill and realized what his baby brother had done behind his back 😂

Walt had a lifelong fascination with trains (he even built a working scale model railroad in his backyard), and it was born right here in Marceline. The old train depot now houses the Walt Disney Hometown Museum, a must-see for any Disney enthusiast! Not only does it have so many amazing and unique pieces of Disney history, but the building itself is absolutely beautiful. It's a perfect tribute to Walt and his boyhood town ❤️

Sunset on the Disney family farm in Walt's hometown of Marceline, Missouri...One of the most peaceful places I've ever visited ❤️
