This piece, titled ‘Whoosh’, will be featured in my gallery ‘Waves are Words: The Many Voices of Lake Superior”.
Waves are Words and Waves are Wednesdays are interconnected. You probably figured that out, but this is my page so I’m still going to tell the story.
My artist non de plume at the start was Waves are Words, since I loved photographing waves. Back then, Facebook had this thing where you could send certain posts to Top Fans. As a way to try and drum up interest to the page, I started posting an extra wave photo each Wednesday (because alliteration) to my Top Fans.
Except I don’t think it worked; I’m not sure if the posts were visible at all, nobody engaged with the content, and I’m convinced those photos went to an empty part of the internet, never to be seen or heard from again.
Rather than scrap the entire enterprise, I just started posting a wave photo every Wednesday to my main feed. The purpose? To say ‘Thank you’ to everyone who supports and encourages what I do.
And so I want to say a hearty thank you, friends. ‘Waves are Words: The Many Voices of Lake Superior’ is homage to the big lake, but it wouldn’t be happening without the hundreds and thousands of likes, comments, and dollars spent on my artwork over the year. Thank you for believing in me! But also, I hope you stick around.
Because you ain’t seen nothing yet.
‘Waves are Words’ is now open at and runs through May 31. Stop in and check it out, along with other great artwork by some incredibly gifted people!
