Spider Man, Miles Morales X The Weeknd

"SPIDERBOY"

Chapter 7 in the series, “Heroes 4 the Culture” with my bro

This one is a play on The Weeknd's album cover, which contrasted nicely with the vibe of the Into The Spiderverse Movie. Reversed the colors to compliment the scheme of his suit against the contrasting cool, dark sky. The Spiderman full suit is swapped for a hoodie and jeans vibe, which came together perfectly to show the spider symbol as a reference to how he wears his suit underneath his clothing. This one was definitely a blast to put together. As you can tell, I'm hype for the next Spiderverse movie, and honestly, was hoping I'd see him do a cameo in Spider-Man No Way Home or even Dr Strange in the Moltiverse of Madness, which was LIT, bit they could've brought my boy in tho!!!

Title: Intimate Complex
2021-2022

(V-day post)

I'm NOT AT ALL a big fan of Valentine's day, but today I thought would be the perfect day to give this print to my wife.

It's an abstract, expressionist style painting of the idea of love, specifically about the depths of building a relationship with someone. Wifey inspired this one.

The flowing colors represent the different emotions and feelings she and I have. We don't feel the same thing all the time, but we have points where we align flawlessly. We grow to understand one another better over time, through expressing passions, hopes, fears, frustration, pain, joy, and holding each other up through it all.

This isn't a portrait of us, but an expression of what love is. It's odd, difficult, sometimes unclear, other times beautiful with surreal peace and joy, and sometimes simply honest and patient when there are negative emotions in the mix too.

Love endures all things... The two in the painting find their strength in never letting go, and so do we.

Process behind one of my recent paintings, inspired by the idea of my client to create a painting embodying imagery from Revelation of the Messiah. The crown, blood, hair, and eyes are explicitly pulled from portions of scripture describing the divinity and glory of the Son of Man, the human eye is from reference of the eye of the client's husband. Second Half of Chapter 5 in the series, “Heroes 4 the Culture” with my bro

This one was meant for Juneteenth, but after having too much fun, I wantedto push it as far as neededto tell this story...

I went with King T'Challa as Andre, while Killmonger filled in for Big Boi. Suits are inspired by movie appearances, but wanted to switch up a couple things here and there to blend the characters with the original duo. Killmonger craves the throne, the power, and the glory that comes with being king, while T'Challa is a warrior who doesn't mind taking any hits necessary, and hitting back harder, to defend his country and his people...

This one was meant for Father's Day, but honestly, I kept trying to add more to it, started having too much fun, and gave me too many dope suggestions 🤣...
In honor of Real Fathers everywhere tho, keep raising up the next generation of KINGS. Too many of us don't have kings guiding us, so we miss our calling.
I went with King T'Chaka on this one to play the role of Big Boi, and Dre to be played by a young T'Challa. Suits are inspired by movie appearances, but wanted to make this one fun, and enjoy putting it together. The promo image used in the background simply fit too well to not just drop it in with some adjusts to fit the feel of the rest of the image. Part 2 on the way soon...

Chapter 4 in the series, “Heroes 4 the Culture” with my bro

This one brings together the tribal warrior known as Vixen, of DC Comics, and the super talented Ari Lennox, of Dreamville Records, on her debut EP, Pho.
On this one I wanted to play with the background framing design from Pho to show Vixen’s abilities with that same abstract vibe. I remixed her look to something slightly more modern and tribal. Who’s your favorite black hero or character in sci-fi, comics or fiction? Who’s album cover would be best for them to crossover with!? More on the way.

Still Fighting...

A lot of us are still living and thinking like we're in chains, but freedom is a choice and a lifestyle.

No one should be treated as less by ANYONE, regardless of status, race, gender, or religion, etc. Part of being free is remembering to treat others as free men and women equally.

Black History Project 2021 continues soon, because I, and yes, WE are Black History.

Chapter 3 in the series, “Heroes 4 the Culture” with my bro

This concept combines Captain America, Sam Wilson from the Falcon and Winter Soldier series on Disney Plus with Notorious BIG’s Ready to Die album. The idea is a caricature featuring the new suit, the gauntlet that took away half of the characters in marvel, including Sam, and the Winter Soldier’s arm, which I think was a funny moment for us all when it got deactivated and fell down like a broken toy 🤣. Sorry, Bucky. How you enjoy checking this project out as well as I did putting it together! 🙏🏾🖌😁🎨✏️

Storm aka Ororo Monroe X Rihanna

Chapter 2 in the series, “Heroes 4 the Culture” with my bro

This concept combines Storm from the X-Men with Rihanna’s album Good Girl Gone Bad. The look is based on the punk design from the 80’s, so I wanted to bring that look current by adding a fade to her hairstyle and switching up her outfit with the addition of some tattoos. I also wanted to give her a hairstyle that looks like she’s from Africa, so naturally kinky hair or dreads, with gold accents. There are 8 versions in all on this one, mainly switching between the umbrella appearance, color, and hairstyle. As you can tell, this one was ALOT of fun to bring together.
