They came from 36 countries across the globe. From Algeria. From Ireland. From Zambia. And they came from places in between, all to become citizens of the United States at Monticello, the former home of Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence.
There, in Charlottesville, Va., 75 immigrants were sworn in as new U.S. citizens amid a celebration and many speeches.
