In 2013, Kendrick Johnson was found inside a rolled-up gym mat at Lowndes High School in Georgia. Investigators ruled his death an accident, concluding he became trapped while trying to retrieve a shoe. His family has never accepted that conclusion and continues to believe he was murdered.

A 2-month-old baby is fighting for their life after investigators say the infant was left alone with young children while the adults went out partying.

According to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Sidney Whitt and 29-year-old Jacqulyn Morales allegedly left three children locked inside a bedroom while they went to a hotel to meet a boyfriend. Investigators say they drank alcohol and used drugs, leaving the children in the care of Morales’ 18-year-old sister, Shelby Munoz.

While the adults were gone, investigators allege two children, ages 4 and 6, entered the room and violently assaulted the 2-month-old infant.

Authorities say Munoz admitted she witnessed the attack but did not intervene because she believed the children “were not hers” and their safety was not her responsibility.

The infant suffered bleeding on the brain, seizures, facial injuries, and was airlifted to a children’s hospital in Dallas, where the baby remains in critical condition.

Investigators also reported finding the children living in deplorable conditions, including a home with no air conditioning, fly infestations, rat f***s, and evidence that the children were routinely locked in a bedroom whenever the adults left.

Police further allege the two mothers waited two days before seeking medical care for the infant despite noticing the baby’s condition.

Sidney Whitt, Jacqulyn Morales, and Shelby Munoz have all been arrested and charged with injury to a child and endangering a child. Each is being held on a $500,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing.

Three young women have been charged with murder after a 32-year-old mother of five died from multiple stab wounds following a broad-daylight attack in Texas.

Del Rio police say officers responded to Val Verde Regional Medical Center around 2:10 p.m. Thursday after Caroline Peña arrived with multiple stab wounds.

Peña was flown to a hospital in San Antonio for emergency treatment but died from her injuries around 9 p.m., police said.

Detectives identified three suspects as 21-year-old Kitty Mia Diaz, 19-year-old Amaya Cookie Diaz and 21-year-old Kyandra Renee Faz. Investigators reviewed surveillance video, processed evidence and interviewed witnesses before locating and arresting the three women.

After Peña died, all three suspects were charged with murder and booked into the GEO Correctional Facility, where they remain awaiting their first court appearances.

Video recorded during the arrests shows the Diaz sisters smiling and glancing toward the camera as they were led in handcuffs to patrol vehicles.

In the footage, a woman identifying herself as the sisters' mother asks the person recording to stop filming, saying, "That's my house and those are my daughters."

Police have not released a possible motive for the killing.
