For those of you new here, or just taking a peek at my page, I’m Kaye, the heart behind Kaye’s Kandids.

This name is one of the most meaningful titles I carry which is why I titled my business after this legacy. It’s generational. It was my grandmother’s name, a name that means love, compassion, and connection. It represents carrying someone with me always, and continuing something truly special. A name I am deeply proud to add to. A name I hope you will allow to document your own legacy.

By profession and passion, I’ve been a registered nurse for 16 years and carry a truly deep care for people. I’m an Idaho native, a mom to two incredible boys, and married to my best friend for nearly 13 years.

My love for photography comes from my love of real life, the quiet moments, the in-betweens, the ones that often go unnoticed. One of my favorite thoughts I’ve ever read is that life isn’t about the day you were born or the day you leave this earth, it’s about the dash between those two dates. That dash is made up of belly laughs, subtle tears, joy, chaos, and everything in between. The dash I often get to witness in my nursing career. I brought that passion for the dash with me into my photography. This is why I specialize in candid photography because I believe the most meaningful images feel like a paused home video, authentic, emotional, and full of life. My goal is to capture your family simply being… loving, living, and making memories exactly as you are.

I couldn't let the day pass by without saying happy Father's Day to all those dads (uncles, brothers, cousins, grandfathers) out there who show up everyday, work hard at creating a beautiful life, understand the struggles and still press on knowing tomorrow is a new day. To all those dads up for adventure, the handyman who fixes all the problems: physical, emotional and spiritual, the dads who make time for fun even after a hard day at work. To the dads that create love, connection, guidance and safety. We see! We love you! We appreciate you!

Memories that will last forever!

Today was one of those full-circle moments I didn't realize would hit me so hard.

As a kid, I remember visiting the Gum Wall in Seattle and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. Years later, standing in the exact same place with my own boys, I found myself seeing it through their eyes. The excitement, the curiosity, the laughter over something so simple.

It's funny how places change over time, but somehow the memories attached to them don't. Walking those same streets, remembering being the child and now being the mom, made me realize just how quickly the years pass. One minute you're sticking gum on the wall with your parents, and the next you're helping your own kids find the perfect spot for theirs.

These are the moments I wish I could bottle up forever, the little traditions, the unexpected nostalgia, and the realization that someday they'll be telling their own kids about the time they visited the Gum Wall in Seattle.

Seattle, thanks for the memories... both old and new.
