Photo Shoot Guidelines
Hello, and Thank you for considering Barbara Lynn Photography for your portraits. Below you will find all the info that will best cover all the most frequently asked questions. Clothing:
-Vary your necklines if you are bringing a change of clothing.
-Vary your colors and avoid overly bright tones, rich reds and graphic tee's with large logos (excessi

ve prints and patterns often do not work). Earth tones, greys, pastels, etc. work best in outdoor settings.
-Wear only basic pants/skirts such as denim, khaki, and dress pants.
-It is important that your clothes are wrinkle-free and without stains, lint, etc.
-Please only bring/wear minimal accessories. Hair/Makeup/Grooming Whether you are male or female, makeup and hair styling are extremely important for photography. Please make sure you are satisfied with your current hair style before the shoot. If you are getting a haircut for your shoot, please do so a week or so before just in case it goes wrong. For guys, a fresh cut a couple of days before the shoot is fine. As a licensed professional hair stylist, I can do my best to make sure your hair looks good but ultimately that day, I am your photographer. Gals, feel free to bring a friend with you to keep an eye on your hair between clicks to make sure it looks neat, glossy, and smooth! Glasses If folks wouldn't recognize you without glasses, you want to wear glasses in your shoot--however, the glare on the glasses can detract from your eyes in photos. You can have your lenses removed from your frames (Don't worry, it's what Hollywood does to avoid glare in movies!), or ask your doctor to loan you a pair of similar frames. Lips You will probably wipe or lick your lips during your shoot, so bring fresh lip gloss or lipstick to touch up. Use lip balm for a few days in advance of your shoot to make sure your smoochers look their best! Teeth If you want to brighten your smile, start your treatments two weeks before your shoot. Breakouts Start using treatments to help reduce and limit blemishes. Equally important, don't cake on makeup to try and hide blemishes, it's almost always easier to Photoshop away pimples than to clean up overly-done makeup. Make-up A subtle application of makeup can really soften your skin and accent your features. But please make sure you know what you're doing, and make sure it matches your skin tone. Avoid smoky eyes or dark eye shadows in the crease below your brow bone; this creates hollowed-out eyes filled with shadow. Best to keep eye shadow natural and simple. Nails A fresh coat of nail polish in a neutral shade will make a world of difference. Facial Hair Guys, be freshly shaven with a new razor and a moisturizing after shave lotion to avoid bumps and redness. Ladies, even if you have some light facial hair (particularly around your lip and chin), indulge in a waxing a few days in advance of your shoot- even barely-there facial hair will be noticeable in photos. I maintain my equipment to the best of my ability and knowledge. A payment fee of $200 is due at the time of the shoot in the form a check made out to me, Barbara Kiberstis or Venmo at -Kiberstis. (Your check will not be cashed until you receive your disc or thumb drive of images. Should you pay in cash, the funds will be deposited but not accessed until you receive your images!) Fee includes the time spent for the shoot, time for editing, and a folder that will contain a thumb drive of edited images with a letter of print release. I love to shoot pictures and will take a LOT in the approximate 45 minute shoot, with the goal of 30-40 images for you to enjoy and print in whatever manner you wish. I highly recommend www.mpix.com for uploading and printing your shots. It's so simple to do and they mail the prints right to your home or office.
