Sitting at a Table
…with you is more entertaining than you’ll ever know
Just looking at you as you speak and just trying to concentrate on your words, than your looks
I enjoy watching you smile and enjoying that one little tooth that happens to stick out when you do
I enjoy the little game we play on the table as we wait for our food
Even the way you open a straw to not get germs on it
It’s the minute details
The little amount of liquid you leave in a cup when you’re done drinking anything
The joy you have when you share something you made with your hands
The cold hands you press upon my back so you can get a reaction out of me
The amount of space you take on my side of the bathroom sink
The tenacity to endure the things I like even when you don’t want to
The amount of million dollar homes you look up and send me from Zillow
There’s nothing that I would change about you.
It’s a collection of things you’ve done and
I love you for all these things
And I hope we continue to sit at tables just so I can spend some time with you
