If you’re in New York, Chicago, or Boston ; keep an eye out for gallery artist featured in On the Flip Side, a city-wide public installation transforming everyday commutes into moments of reflection.

Now on view across 300 JCDecaux bus shelters throughout New York City, Chicago, and Boston — through April.

The project brings together six photographers — Kennedi Carter, Lougè Delcy, Camila Falquez, Ruby Okoro, Dana Scruggs, and Juan Veloz — whose fine art practices move onto a commercial platform, turning bus shelters into intimate sites of looking.

Curated by Jenée-Daria Strand () for Public Art Fund.

Shot in Togo with model Claudia and hairstylist Patron Aimee, the image features a sculptural wig made from wool braiding hair, commonly used in West Africa. Captured mid-motion as the hair is thrown into the air, the black-and-white rendering gives it a silver glow — evoking calm, power, and quiet defiance.

(Curator): “I chose this piece because it reminded me of the fantasy so many young Black girls have of having super long hair. Probably why we sometimes go super extra with the extensions — which I love! The shot also recalls Mariah Carey’s Honey and Beyoncé’s debut album cover — totally in connection with the R&B theme of the show.”
