I don’t normally post too many photos of people getting ready on their wedding days, but I’m trying to push myself to be much more of a documentarian especially when it comes to wedding photography.
I’m not gonna lie, you shoot enough of them and they start to feel a little stale. Before I arrive, I try to remember to ask myself how I can capture the day in ways that feel authentic to the couple and the overall vibe (I hate that word btw, but I can’t think of another one right now) and not just in ways that have become old habit at this point.
I like these few images because I feel like I did this particular morning justice. I could tell the bride was really excited, but also having a pretty chill morning. Just getting her hair and makeup done by her sisters, hanging in her aunt and uncle’s old farmhouse out in the country, and letting herself be present in the moment. If she was stressed, you couldn’t tell. She was content, which made for a very easy atmosphere for me to wind in and around the house as undetected as someone with a big loud object in front of their face can be.
Anyway, just some thoughts I felt like sharing, the most important of which is, of course, PUPPIES! (scroll to the end)
