Ali Miller Photography All inquires please EMAIL!! Nashville Wedding, Family & Senior Photographer I fell in love early with the concept of storytelling.

When I was little, I would be reading at least 6 books at once, at all times. I loved the way a character went from a stranger to a dear friend of mine that I knew everything about--

all I had to do was turn the pages. My obsession with words as a kid quickly turned into a passion for people. I fell in love at an early age with how humans interact with one another; their passions, what makes thei

r eyes light up, the things that make them ecstatic or nostalgic. It was only a matter of time until a camera found its way into my life. My love of storytelling evolved into telling stories through photographs, and I haven't looked back since.

After I made this photo I instantly heard my grandmas voice in my head, “Oh honey, THAT is going to be a marvelous one. Just absolute class, I guarantee it”.

Sure enough, she was right.

I love you & that’s all I really know 🤍

A massive thank you to everyone who celebrated this new season of life with us this past weekend, both in person and over the phone. We feel so damn lucky🥹

And a tremendous thank you to for documenting these memories for us. Thank god brought us together all those years ago 🫶🏻

I don’t think you want to book a photoshoot with me.

I think you want to hang out in your backyard as the sun dips below the mountains.

You want to eat bowls of Cheetos and encourage browned tomato plants to come back to life. You want to show off your dogs vertical leap when the hose turns on and brainstorm what we should order for dinner.

You want to sit in the unfinished nursery and wonder if the baby will have your laugh or your husbands’ dry humor. You want to recount the story of finding out you were going to be a mom, how scared and excited and ready and unprepared you both feel.

You don’t want a photoshoot. You want to exist in your home with your family before another tiny soul is added to it. And you want me to exist in that space with you for an evening, camera in hand.

And if that is what you want, that is exactly what we will do💛

An honor to document another milestone for these two incredible people who have turned into dear friends. I cannot wait to watch you become parents🥹😭

I’ve been thinking about ‘Easter eggs’ lately, how completely enamored I am with finding them at your wedding.

How, knowingly or not, you leave them for me to find.

Some are hidden, others blink like neon arrows. Little hints about who you both are, sprinkled like glitter in the choices you made.

The chalices your parents had at their wedding.

The color red.

Your grandma’s house coat.

Handwritten notes.

The tattoos on your arm.

Origami receipts from the first year.

I notice each and every one of them; intentional, thoughtful choices that you felt important enough to include, on a day that happens to matter a whole lot.

Now you may think my obsession with Easter eggs is because of a certain singer I’ve adored since 2006 (which is…true).

Really though, the reason I love finding Easter eggs at your wedding is because I know you loved leaving them for people to discover.

Maybe this whole post is an Easter egg? Something I wanted you to find?

I think forever sounds like a marvelous idea.

A massive congrats to Sam + Georgia on their engagement this past weekend in Nashville. Planning a proposal for the girl who is the real life version of Nancy Drew is NOT easy, but as you can see by Georgia’s face, it was a success 🥹

And that last photo of G realizing it’s her friend Ali behind the camera?😭 thank you for letting me play a tiny role in this chapter.

“No no, leave it. It’s collecting forest glitter, I want it there”.

May we all be so lucky to have a dress covered in glitter

“How much emotion can you capture without seeing any expressions? How much of a story can you tell without revealing its characters?”

I’m not sure when those questions became ones I ask myself each and every time I shoot,

but here are some of my most favorite answers.

I don’t think I could ever properly express how eternally grateful I am for all of my couples, but ESPECIALLY for the first few that ever took a chance on me.

I met Hanna and Ken at a cover shoot for a magazine I worked for back in 2021. I had just put in my two weeks at the restaurant I worked at and told them I was going to try and be a wedding photographer.

Now, “try” is the key word in that sentence— as prior to quitting my very stable job, I had shot 3 weddings……in my entire life. You could say my experience level in the wedding world was…rudimentary at best.

After I sent Hanna some of the photos from our shoot, she immediately asked me if I’d be willing to fly to Mexico and document their wedding the following year.

My first thought was “holy s**t are you sure? Me? Really?!”

That was the day I learned how it felt to be blindly trusted— a feeling I still experience to do this day every single time a couple asks me to be their documentarian.

But there’s nothing like the first time.

I felt this word so many times today, looking back through hundreds and hundreds of photos this afternoon (I almost forgot it was Wednesday).

It is not difficult— finding photos of mothers and grandmothers at weddings. In fact you may be thinking, “this was a very easy category to place your photos into”.

It was difficult because some of us can’t imagine a life without our moms while others can’t imagine a life with them in it.

If you’re lucky your best friend’s mom calls you her “bonus kid”, and some of us get to watch our best friends raise children of their own.

Some of us have two moms while others have none. We ask them how many advil we should take but forget to call them back.

We have mothers by blood and mothers by choice. Sometimes our grandmothers and aunts are our mothers for a season.

We have buried our mothers. We have leaned on our mothers. And someday our moms may need us right back.

I think what made choosing these photos— photos that resoundingly said “motherhood” between my ears —so stunningly challenging, was that I couldn’t believe how many definitions this word held until I saw them all out in front of me.
