This month always comes around and I don't even know what to say. There's too much. Maybe I should have started at the beginning of the month but I don't even know where to start.

I want you all to be aware of it though, aware that people struggle, aware that there is work to be done around mental health in society. I'm grateful for the ways it has been becoming more prominent in our world. People are more aware.

It's as important as physical health so pay attention to it and have grace for yourself in the struggles 🫶🏻.

If you know me, you know I'm a faith de/reconstruction girlie ✌️

One of the things that keeps me coming back to faith is highlighted in the Easter story-

Which is that the first people to hear and PREACH the gospel message, that Jesus is Risen!, were women. Members of society with no authority, and very little value in that time- women.

Littered throughout the Bible God does things like this- take the outcast and dehumanized and use them for the most important task- to further the message of God. To preach to the nations.

Everything mentioned in the Bible as sin involves dehumanization. Murder = not upholding the value of a human life. Dishonoring people, same thing. Gossip, adultery, stealing = not valuing a human life as your own life. The number two commandment- love your neighbor as yourself- value/humanize your neighbor as yourself.

This is a cause I can get behind. It's a motivation my soul has felt lead to- to social justice, that the weak would be made strong. The poor no longer know hunger, and the oppressed be raised up.

This is the Gospel, this is Christ. This is the core of my faith and while so many who claim to follow the same God continue to dehumanize those around them, I will put my head down and keep marching forward in the way God is leading me and know that I do not follow God perfectly either.

We are all trying our best, and at least that is something we can find unity in today.
