There’s something almost unreal about springtime in western Montana. One minute the sky is dark with rolling thunderstorms, the next the sun breaks through and every field glows green like the earth just woke back up. Wildflowers spill across the hillsides. Kids run barefoot through wet grass. The rivers get loud again. Everything feels alive.
I think that’s why this season pairs so perfectly with young families and children. There’s already so much adventure living inside these days, muddy boots, picnic blankets, tiny hands picking flowers, chasing dogs through open fields, stopping to watch lightning way off in the distance. It’s messy and beautiful and gone before you realize it.
These are the seasons worth remembering.
Not the perfectly posed moments, but the real ones. The wind in your daughter’s hair. Your son holding a fistful of golden flowers like treasure. Everyone laughing while thunder rolls somewhere over the mountains.
Western Montana gives us this kind of magic for such a short time every year.
If you’ve been thinking about booking a family session, spring might honestly be the most beautiful time to do it.
