Some of my favorite pictures of my favorite whimsical Australian flycatcher species. The first two feature the broad-billed flycatcher, sporting a stunning steely grey and rusty orange plumage. Look closely for a surprise: this bird was banded! A very rare photo! The next four pictures are of the aptly named shining flycatcher. The male is pitch black while the female looks completely different in white and chestnut. However, these dad's aren't dead beats and actually help out with incubating eggs (see last pic)!
