There is something incredibly beautiful about a small wedding.
Less production. Less pressure to perform. Just two people choosing each other in a way that actually feels like them.
Maybe that means hiking into the woods at sunrise with muddy boots and coffee in hand. Maybe it means saying your vows quietly at a courthouse before heading to dinner with your favorite people. Maybe it’s just the relief of realizing your wedding day doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s to be meaningful.
Some of the most emotional weddings I’ve photographed had less than 20 people there. Sometimes less than 5. And honestly? The intimacy changes everything. People slow down. They breathe. They’re present.
You don’t remember your wedding because it was elaborate. You remember it because it felt real. Remember; your wedding, your rules.

I’ve been pretty quiet here this spring. We moved, and honestly, all the murder and war has really bummed me out and kept me out of the zone for social media.

That said, behind the scenes I’ve been connecting with some truly wonderful clients, and I’m so excited for this year’s wedding season.

These two met me on one of the coldest days this winter at Tonkadale Greenhouse. We wandered, shopped, photographed and I may have accidentally spent more than I made during the session… but honestly, worth it. I 10/10 recommend having your engagement session at your local greenhouse or plant store. Great light, and whooooo doesn’t love house plants?

“Chelsea truly made our lives so much easier leading up to and during our wedding day. We had our consultation meeting two days before Christmas last year. We left that meeting feeling so much more confident as neither my partner nor I particularly like being the center of attention. While trying to plan our engagement session, we knew the kind of aesthetic we wanted but not necessarily how to go about it. We relayed what we wanted, and Chelsea came through with a shot location that turned out amazing. I mean who doesn’t want pictures with a waterfall in the background. We got a little wet, but honestly, I think that just added to the charm of the shoot. Fast forward to our wedding day, from the moment they arrived everything from a picture standpoint seemed to flow smoothly, from the getting ready photos to first look to family photos (which was a lot of herding cats!). Both Chelsea and Ben made us feel comfortable and less stressed through what we thought was going to be somewhat of a headache due to the sheer volume of family members. We got great shots of our ceremony and reception where both Chelsea and Ben seemed to blend into the scenery to get the photos without taking any eyes off of us. Both my partner and I liked their directness when trying to get the right shots and their personalities and senses of humor that put us back in our comfort zones.”
