Corey, the artist, has worked professionally for over a decade, with work recognized through juried competitions and exhibitions nationally and internationally. Mac Wildlife & Art is where photography comes first, and where years behind the camera shape everything that follows. I’m Corey McDonald, a professional photographer and artist based in South Alabama. My work comes from time spent outdoors

, on farms, in fields, and in wild places, observing and documenting the landscapes and animals that define them. Long before Mac Wildlife & Art existed, photography led me into these environments and introduced me to some of the hardest-working, most genuine people I know. This page is dedicated first to wildlife art, created with a strong focus on realism and detail, and always built from my original photographs. Alongside that work, you’ll find wildlife, landscape, and agricultural photography. The artwork itself is shaped by traditional pencil and painterly techniques, translated carefully into a digital process so the final pieces still feel hand-crafted rather than computer-made. If you’re here, you likely appreciate patience, detail, and work that is earned rather than manufactured.

Normally when I'm in one of the National Parks, I'm with a group of people, or at least one person that has been to the area before. I'm horrible at doing things alone - even though I'm used to being alone. You see, when it comes to getting out of my truck or going somewhere without a guide, I typically just ride on by.

When I was driving through South Dakota last week, an easy decision to make on the way to Colorado, I knew I would be stopping by Badlands National Park because it has been on my list for many, many years. The timing could not have been better, as I arrived about an hour and a half before golden hour. Made my way through and found myself mesmerized by the formations I was seeing. I was stopping every fifty yards or so, getting out on the side of the roads, making panoramas and getting small details, like s-curves and composite elements.

As I continued to drive around, one song kept playing in my head. It's one of my favorite songs - called "Grand Canyon." Obviously the Badlands are not the Grand Canyon but the lyrics were part of what made me feel so surrounded by beauty as to be mundane in comparison.
