Salt + Light family,

Thank you all for your kindness and flexibility in scheduling/gallery delivery times as the last month unfolded. My family lost our grandpa Bob and sweet, grandma Gussie.

During this time, the Lord delivered a message to me while my Uncle Lawain led service at grandma’s funeral and I just want to share. He painted a beautiful journey of grandma’s life. From raising four boys, dealing with the secondary effects from addiction in someone close, loss of family members.. you name it, in her years of life she faced it.

Uncle Lawain said one thing that hit me harder than anything else. He said that he believed she coped with the world through the Lord and hard work. A strong work ethic and choosing the right way isn’t always the easiest to accomplish.

I snapped this photo of her tiny home that raised children, held 13 grandchildren and an absurd amount of great grandchildren, as I was in town visiting family after her passing. All I can see is that work ethic. All I can see is the fruit of working hard and showing up when it matters- doing the right thing.

One tiny house. One fruitful woman. One faithful servant. I’m thankful for many things she did but mostly for her gift of family to me through my step-dad.
