📷 52Frames Week 2 - Rule of Thirds 📷

Are you familiar with the Rule of Thirds when it comes to composition?

The rule of thirds is basically a way to make photos feel more balanced by putting your subject slightly off-center instead of right in the middle — it usually makes the image feel more natural and interesting.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to capture for this week's session, and then I walked past my cat hanging out on the back of the couch and well.. she had everything lined up perfectly!

I think the colors in this photo compliment each other really well, without taking too much away from the subject. As well the couch sit in a way that creates a very nice leading line that helps draw your eye to the subject, and leads to the negative space on the left.

Also if you wanted to share photos of your cats in the comments, I wouldn't be upset.

🌼 2026 Creative Journey 🌼

I’ve officially joined the 52Frames weekly photography challenge, and I’m really excited to share this journey with you all! 📸

I joined this challenge for a few important reasons: to keep my camera in hand (especially during the slower winter season), to capture more images that are just for me, to learn new techniques, and to really push my creativity outside my comfort zone.

This week’s theme was Self Portrait — and I’ll be honest… not my favorite 😅 BUT I leaned into it anyway. It's so funny how uncomfortable I am in front of camera and yet always encouraging other's to relax and enjoy it haha! Anyway, the self-portrait is meant to show you (obviously) or something you enjoy and really.. I love a steaming hot bubble bath.

Next week’s theme is Rule of Thirds, and I can’t wait to dive into that one! I’d love for you to follow along as I work through each weekly challenge and grow as an artist.

✨ First Christmas ✨

There’s something incredibly special about welcoming a family back into my lens—especially when it’s to celebrate a brand new life.

Just a short while ago, we were capturing sweet maternity photos, and now I’m standing in their home, documenting their first Christmas with their sweet newborn in their arms.

This lifestyle session felt like everything the season is meant to be: slow mornings, soft light, tiny fingers wrapped around mom and dad, and a home filled with love.

Returning clients hold such a special place in my heart—thank you for trusting me once again to tell your story and preserve these fleeting moments. Your first Christmas together is one you’ll never forget, and I’m so honored I got to freeze a piece of it for you 🤍✨

It's wild to have two different Davis families in the same week, but here we are lol!

✨ The Davis Family ✨

This shoot was extra special, not only because it was a perfect fall day with the most amazing golden hour light (seriously this is the best light I've ever captured), but also because Shelby has been one of my biggest supporters from the very start. 🌟

Shelby has been in front of my lens countless times over the years, and she's always been so willing to let me practice, experiment, and grow as a photographer. From day one, she’s shown nothing but love and support, and it means the world to me. 🙏

This family session was a dream—beautiful people, a sweet angel baby of a dog (Willa, you are a star!), and the kind of light that makes you feel like you're stepping into a painting. Seriously, choosing my favorite shots from this session was SO hard. Every image turned out incredible, and it’s a testament to how amazing this family is inside and out.

Thank you, Davis family, for always being so wonderful to work with and for trusting me to capture new family photos for you this fall. 🧡

🍂✨ There’s just something magical about fall, isn’t there? The air turns crisp, the leaves paint the world in gold and crimson, and everything smells like pumpkin spice and cozy sweaters. The cooler weather, the comfort food — it’s truly the season that feeds the soul (and the camera!)

Fall has always been my favorite time of year for photo sessions. The light is soft, the colors are rich, and everyone seems to glow a little brighter against those autumn backdrops. 🍁📸

This week, I had the joy of photographing the Brock family, who returned to me after their last session in 2022! 💛 They’re such an easy family to capture — full of laughter, love, and genuine connection. Their little one especially keeps me on my toes — not only does she love the camera, but she’s even been known to give me a few creative directions during the shoot. Future photographer in the making, perhaps? 😉

I’m so grateful for families like the Brocks who trust me year after year to document their memories. Here’s to another beautiful fall season full of warmth, joy, and colorful stories. 🍂

☀️ Summer is winding down… and my heart is feeling it 💛

There’s something about summer that feels like magic — the long golden evenings, warm breezes, quiet mornings, and skies that never get old. Every year, I fall in love with it all over again.

As the days start to shorten and the air shifts just a little, I can’t help but feel a little sad to see it go. This season always inspires me in ways that are hard to put into words — it’s the light, the color, and the way everything feels so alive.

Holding on to these last few summer days with so much gratitude. 🌞
