The fires of pain... I've personally suffered tremendous loss in my life, and I know so many who are going through it now. My writing, as novice as it is, gave and gives me healing, but I never knew it would bring healing to others, even saved a life, I was told. The pain can drown us like waters and leave us in a despair that is indescribable. Waiting on something to happen, or make things better, can feel like a heaviness on your heart so unbearable, you can't breathe at times. Some hide from the world... Some draw the shades and stay in the misery of what we call a comfort zone. In that, you can lose yourself if you're not careful, and it can entrap you like a prison. Pain can purge the worst out of us, but I hope you will entice and notice your thoughts in the process. It can also push you to be your very best. Even in the worst of circumstances, we can produce wonderful thoughts and put them into action. It can give you tremendous energy if you let it motivate you instead of shut you down. Yes, of course, we get knocked off our feet and have to heal, but some get trapped there and never return. I've known too many, especially with the loss of a loved one. I refused to do that when my mother passed. Yes, I grieved and still secretly cry out for her out loud at times. I tremendously ache for her and others. She sat me down before she died and told me to honor her life by living well. I gave it the best of my ability, as I was struggling with how to live without her. I still do. I think we can apply that to a lot of things in our life and turn a loss into a celebration. I found out the maturity my mother had. Wow, I thought! You really have to grow up! Yes, I still struggle with this at times, but that is my driving force to keep moving. I carry her and others with me everywhere I go. How can I not honor her and others I have lost? I fought and fight guilt, as some loss I carry the blame myself for it. My love tells me at times I toss and turn in my dreams at night. I wake up at times with a deep dread of guilt and loss. My heart racing, and I'm gasping for air. But a lesson was being taught to me, in that God's grace is sufficient, and I'm free of the guilt. I'm forgiven. I still suffer the consequences of past actions, but I'm free now, and I want you to be. See yourself like this fire rising out of the waters that tried to drown your life out, and rise up. That's why I so love and cherish the gift of a new day. In that, I get another chance to honor each and every loss we have had by striving to live well. Let your fire rise within the drowning waters, and let your embers rage to this new day. Consume this new day like a wildfire to a virgin woodland. It takes practice, but you can do it! His grace is sufficient. Period. In all things, find what joy you can out of it. Seek to be comfortable, not just total happiness. Don't set your standards so high in these times. In that, you will find some measure of ability to live and motivate you to a higher plain. Sprinkles of happiness you had once forgotten will return. I was amazed at how good that felt. I hope your fires burn today, and you enjoy your journey in life. You owe it to yourself and others. Live with purpose today! If you really loved and lost, you owe it to them. Enjoy this day. We got another chance... Robert Wolfe Inspirations
