Dave Hrbacek Photography I specialize in photojournalism, with weddings serving as a major part of my freelance photography, and also including special events, editorial and portraits.

I work as the staff photographer at The Catholic Spirit, official newspaper of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. I have been a photojournalist for 24 years and a wedding photographer for 15. I shoot lots of candids to capture the wedding day, then give all of the photos to the bride and groom on DVDs to keep and reproduce as they desire, with no restrictions or extra fees. My wife, Juli

e, is my assistant who sets up all of the posed, formal shots (bride and groom, wedding party, etc.). We place a premium on serving brides and grooms to help them enjoy their day, plus we are flexible to accommodate the kinds of photos they desire.

Got this shot at the conclusion of the first dance at Joanne and Matt Field's wedding Aug. 1. It was an awesome day, and I got lots of cool pictures. Being a photojournalist, I always look for and try to capture moments like this one that show emotion and the relationship between the couple. I'm also a huge fan of black and white photography, so I couldn't resist converting this image to black and white. Stay tuned for more of their wedding photos to come!
