Is having a bucket list a 90’s thing? I made one this summer for activities to do with my little herd and it did help us to find ways to do more than play in the backyard!

I had to slow it down and share some black and whites from this adorable family. After 4 years, we still get to create genuine, true to this family, unique images they can keep to document their ever growing and changing lives.

It’s so precious to me to see each family create their own little world in this huge world with millions and millions of souls. But here, at home, it’s their own little universe.

When this sweet mama reached out to celebrate her third little boy joining their family, she was worried about the nursery being the same. She wanted to make sure it felt unique to this little boy and here’s the thing; I wasn’t concerned at all! There’s a whole house to use! I’ve been in that same nursery 3 times now and I confidently believe each newborn has his own feel.
•
The weather was absolutely fantastic this day and they’d renovated their house since their first baby so it was so fun and refreshing to be outside for a bit, giving us a completely new set up.
•
I do not take it lightly when families ask me back, four years of capturing this family is so special to me!

I’m going to tell my short story long; ready?
•
A week ago my husband and I went on a date to a {new to us} little town and found all kinds of little places to explore. Restaurants, bakeries, coffee, parks, places to have adventures!
•
Fast forward a couple days and it worked out to go through this town to take my children to the playground. And then my husband really wanted to take me to the coffee shop soon for a breakfast date.
•
That’s what we did this morning at 6:30, but here’s where the coincidence part comes in; my dear friend sent me a voice message about a park just outside this town 12 hours before said date. She wanted to tell me about it because she thought it would be gorgeous for a session location.
•
It worked out perfectly for us to walk it on our date!! We turned an early morning pre birthday coffee date into a dual business meeting. We had peace and quiet to discuss his business while scouting for my clients.
•
It’s not the most climatic story, but I hope it shows how often my work isn’t an hourly thing, but something that is fluidly integrated into my life. I LOVE the flexibility being a photographer allows me to be for our family!

What can be built by two people who choose forever? A family, a community, a village that supports each other.

My husband and I love the community we are apart of and I’m proud to say these lovely faces are all our neighbors! Four generations that bring together so much more of our community, it’ll get you confused how so and so is related to another. But this was one of the smoothest extended family sessions I’ve ever done and there’s 33 total here.

I’ve had a break from newborns (for a minute, patiently and excitedly awaiting a couple!) and I’ve had some of the sweetest extended family sessions.
•
If you hadn’t thought about it, it’s like one giant mini session for each family because I get enough to make up a gallery for each one pretty much. But you just get to be with everyone and have some fun candids too!
•
One little sweetheart knew I was a stranger during this session but it doesn’t scare me. Honestly I’m happier giving space and getting the candids I can. I hate pressuring kids to perform with the smile you want (even though I know you know they have the sweetest smile). They either warm up by having space to observe me or we roll with candids. It’s so much better than forcing and that’s exactly how we conquered this little moment.

Oh how I love finding the moments to freeze during a big family session! It was such a gorgeous evening spent with a family that is so genuine and caring that it just radiated through the lens. It was fun to catch up with some homeschool friends from …. Too long ago! Let’s not ask how long ago I graduated highschool 😅 I, myself, am in denial of that length of time 😂

I don’t follow the Chinese calendar but for my extended family, this is the year of BOYS! Starting with my youngest little man being almost a year old, we’ve added 2 with one more boy cousin to come. I believe there’s 9 under 4 & a half this July and all but my little girl are boys 😅

My kids absolutely adore their little buddy here, I know they’re all so excited for his brother to join our adventures!
