The historic 90-foot Southport weather tower, originally built in 1901 to warn mariners of incoming storms, was successfully reconstructed on the Fort Johnston Garrison lawn in the spring of 2026. The replica honors the legacy of Jessie Stevens Taylor, who famously managed the tower's warning flags for over 60 years
