Their wedding day, in 10 frames.

Diana & Nelson are high school sweethearts that wanted an elegant [but NOT stuffy] wedding day, with Bridgerton-esque vibes. And that’s what they got! It was full of fun, dancing the night away, & Mexican wedding traditions; including a bilingual ceremony.

If it rains on your wedding, IT’S OKAY. Rain made these photos happen! Gracie’s bridesmaids wouldn’t have needed to pick up her dress [while holding umbrellas] if not for the rain.

These photos were taken in less than five minutes, while walking from the chapel to the main venue. 🤌

As a wedding photographer, I actually don’t mind when it rains on your day. No, it’s not ideal, but it can make for even more memorable moments if you’re willing to roll with the punches.

Plus, unexpected events like these are absolute catnip to documentary wedding photographers. [aka me] 😂

June recap, but make it a magazine. Do we have any crossover??

One whole month in Austin! Transparently, June was a bit all over the place emotionally & mentally. BUT the duality of life is that sadness & joy can coexist. I think you can see it in these slides, uncertainty edged with hope.

As a photographer myself, there’s one piece of advice I have for people looking to hire a wedding photographer, brand photographer, you name it.

Consider MORE than just their photos you love. Think about what matters to YOU. Some of my non-negotiables when working with a client:
Trust.
The experience they desire & that I provide.
Connection with them, their story, their business, etc.
Being present to their day, the moment, the project.
How it FEELS.

What is one thing that matters to you when you’re booking a photographer? [or photographers, when you say yes to a client.]

[here’s your sign to have a purse bouquet for your wedding.] I LOVE this wedding trend not only because it’s so chic & unique, but also cause it’s customizable. Sometimes weddings trends feel like the only option is copy & paste, but with this one there are so many iterations possible!

Also, imagine you have your bouquet dried out or recreated with faux flowers and then BOOM you have a unique & personal art piece for your home.

Chandler & Jarod had their beautiful micro wedding at a boutique hotel and her decision to have a purse bouquet complimented the aesthetic of the space GORGEOUSLY.

You can call me the devil, cause I’m in the details.

And no, I’m not talking about perfectly curated flat lays.

These detail images *tend* to be more close up and are ESSENTIAL to telling a story. Of your wedding, of your product, of your work. [I also like to call the little vignettes]

They can encapsulate the feeling of something in a single image.

If establishing shots are to set context for the scene or moment, details are the b roll that plays to enhance that narrative. They’re what keep you engaged and invested in the story. They move it forward.

Plus, when you revisit the memory of something, you typically don’t see them in these wide, expansive moments.

More often than not, you remember blips—flashes of the bodies dancing, the way the candlelight hit the flowers on the table while you listened to your best friend give their speech.

I capture details because they’re important to the overall story, yes. But also because they’re often what we remember first when looking back.

Why should you even care about collaboration?

People typically do their best work when they’re invested in what they’re working on.

So, when there’s a back and forth, an exchange of ideas, there’s equal investment in the outcome.

And when you’ve got people that are willing to be vulnerable working together, the outcome is inherently more human & real !!

As the client, you likely have an image in your head of how your photos want to look. Whether it’s your wedding, product photos, headshots, an album cover.

Your photographer should be there to bring that vision to life, in collaboration with you.

To create is a vulnerable thing, to be photographed, to have your life’s work photographed, is a vulnerable thing.

Choose a photographer you feel safe to be vulnerable with.

Say yes to a client that trusts you.

It’s weird and difficult to be seen “trying”. What if I tell people about my goals and then I don’t get that thing or I change my mind? What if it’s a really lofty goal, and I might not make it?

Well, I’ve officially decided I’m entering my “I don’t give a f*ck” era. OWN THAT SH*T.

I know it can be overwhelming to have big dreams, lofty goals, or unique desires. Because it’s difficult to know where to start, how to take action. And not just get stuck in wishful thinking.

Sharing them, putting them out into the ether so to speak, is the first step. Speak them out loud and into existence, gives them an existence outside your brain. These things won’t just HAPPEN, you have to take action and move the needle forward.

But, it’s an easy win to just SHARE. You’re not only making it real by speaking it into existence, you’re creating accountability by allowing others to know them.
