I’m showing up twice at Small Works.
As an artist — with my own phoneography photographs on the wall alongside 91 women and non-binary photographers. And as Director of Fundraising & Business Development for Professional Women Photographers, for whom this is the first fundraiser I’ve organized on the Board.
That kind of alignment doesn’t happen often. It feels worth naming.
Every image in this exhibition carries a larger intention: funding our documentary — Women of Vision: 50 Years of Empowering Women in Photography.
If something in this phoneography exhibition calls to you, bring it home — and help bring the documentary to life.
My heart is full seeing my work among this constellation of voices.
Curated by — it has been a pleasure to learn from you through this. 💚

Happy World Smile Day! I'm not sure who comes up with these holidays, but I'm always here for a reason to smile! This is one of my favorite portraits, and I'm thrilled it recently earned a bronze in the Portrait Masters Image Awards! I hope this image of my beautiful client brings a smile to your face today.

It has been nearly a year since my father, the source of my inspiration and the namesake of La Lanne Photography, passed away and transitioned to the spirit realm.

This Father’s Day marks the first one without him.

He was an immigrant who journeyed from Haiti to the US on a student visa through the NY Institute of Photography.

I cannot recall the first time I held a camera; I just always knew I wanted to document moments through photography, thanks to him introducing me to this art form.

After being apart for 13 years, the images I’m sharing from our reunion signify the start of the peace, love, and mutual understanding we nurtured over the last decade of his life. These photographs will be treasured by me until the end of my days.

When I gaze at these pictures, I hear his voice and our laughter, feeling the love, joy, and connection between us. I reminisce about how we acknowledged each other’s humanity, the strength of forgiveness, and the peace that blossomed from our reconnection. These images allow me to relive that day!

A special thanks to my friend who photographed these moments inspired by him and I as photographers and decided to jokingly, but then seriously photograph us. I am eternally grateful for these images!🤌🏾🥺🤎✨✨✨

I encourage you to grant yourself the opportunity to seize the moment and encapsulate time! Whether you candidly photograph with your phone right now or by enlisting a photographer. There are services available to help you honor and cherish the legacy of your loved ones. Photographers possess unique gifts, skills, and talents! Select the individual whose work captivates you and consider investing in their photography services. Whether it’s for a portrait session, a documentary-style day-in-the-life session, a special event, or simply to preserve lasting memories for yourself and your loved ones.
Do not hesitate. Do it!. I assure you, it is invaluable and you and your loved ones are worth it!

Eurila Cave is my neighbor. We had an instant affinity on many levels that identified in all the Brooklyn energy we carry and rep, our artistry and being in the photography communities, being Black women, love, self love and spirituality.

I originally hired her to document the unfolding of this exhibit and something in me said, “invite her.” So I asked her and she said, “Yes!”

The witnessing of what she has chosen to present has affirmed further why I chose to bring her into the UNFOLDING experience.
