Congratulations to our fearless leader Christopher Hanvey 🔥
“I am delighted to announce that I am now a Full Member of the esteemed Dramatists Guild of America. A Membership level reserved for Produced and Published Playwrights.
This is a major milestone, as America and New York in particular has a particular place in my heart.
I started my career in Theater - Writing, Producing and Performing my own work, because no Company, Venue or Establishment would support me in London. We made miracles on budgets created from Credit Cards that usually held a £500 limit.
And despite all of that, we still managed to produce our work to great acclaim and to some scathing Reviews too, I might add.
Thank You Dominic Maxwell in the Times for calling me an arrogant prick ahead of my first One Star Review 😜
This is a major moment for me and my relocation to New York City is now not up for question.
Although England and the UK has brought me some happy moments and some great friends (generally outside of the business), it must be said…
The ‘Industry’ itself has gaslit me into believing that anything I had ever achieved was irrelevant because I did it all myself and dared to NOT ask their permission.
In my darkest moments I believed them.
In my brightest moments I smile with a middle finger raised as defiant and as prominent and as glorious as they deserve.
Thank you to all who believed in the Work so much so that they dared to put themselves on the line creatively.
To be associated with a ‘rebel’ is no small thing.
Thank you to my loyal audience, who supported a boy with a chip proudly placed on both shoulders.
