CONNECTION💕The one thing Ai can’t replace. I’ve been seeing a lot of ads for Ai “photography “, specifically headshots taken from selfies and Aied (did I just make that word up?) to look like a professional headshot or portrait. I’ve seen one too many Aied videos too but that’s another story). I’ve been asked a few times now how I feel about Ai taking over my “job” and the truth is I haven’t thought about it too much. The more I do think about it the more I realize my “job” isn’t just to take a photo. My “job” and passion, I’ve realized, is connection and helping humans to feel that, see it and preserve it through a photo. Connection with others and with themselves. As a photographer I help people remember the small moments, the funny faces, the way their person, child, friend, parent, looked at them and made them feel. This connection isn’t limited to the nuclear family. As a woman who chose not to have children, I am often contemplating the meaning of love and family and the older I get the more I realize you really are the creator of your life. There is no right way to do life. Love and connection are all around you when you look for it. Connections between friends, community,pets, and even that connection with yourself because everyone deserves to be seen.
