It is hard in times of crisis to feel powerless when so many people are suffering. I think of this often, particularly in areas of the world that do not get our media attention. I guess it is the guilt of privilege and luck.

The fires in LA pulled on my heart strings in a different way. First of all LA is a place I have called home before - never for long periods of time, but for happy, wonderful stretches. I have family and dear friends who have lost their homes, stores, schools, cars etc.
Fires are inconceivable in their destruction and their speed. The victims started their days like no other and within hours everything they knew to be true was turned upside down. Some will have the resources to rebuild (although that does not tackle the mental and physical toll), but others do not.

Liza and I really wanted to find a way to get $ directly to those that need it. A friend of mine told me about . Read their mission statement, it says it all: Teachers. Nurses. Bus Drivers. Baristas. Postal Workers. We’re all about supporting these hardworking folks, one person at a time, by providing what they need, right now. No lengthy applications, no bureaucracy – just straight-up kindness.

This image was taken on Carbon beach in Malibu, Selling it to raise money felt like a way of sharing a piece of Malibu’s magic with our friends around the world - all while giving back to the resilient LA community as they start the journey of rebuilding.
100% of all money raised will go directly to through a direct donation by you.
