Monument House is proud to announce that the photography and writing of Caine Rose will be featured in a new publication scheduled for release later this year.
*Gilded to the Grave: The Last Monuments of New York's Gilded Age* explores the extraordinary funerary art, mausoleums, memorials, and final resting places of the men and women who shaped America's Gilded Age.
From the grand mausoleums of Woodlawn Cemetery to the hidden corners of Green-Wood, Moravian, Sleepy Hollow, Trinity Church Cemetery, and beyond, this work examines the surviving monuments of an era defined by immense wealth, ambition, artistry, and social transformation.
More than a study of cemeteries, *Gilded to the Grave* is an exploration of memory, architecture, sculpture, and the enduring legacy of some of the most influential figures in American history.
Pictured here is the original Vanderbilt Mausoleum in Moravian Cemetery on Staten Island, one of the many remarkable monuments featured in the book.
Published by America Through Time.
Expected release: Late 2026.
