Blue, Black, Red with white.
But can you really ever have too much of a good thing? My new studio space has been giving me a much needed inspiration boost lately. It's old and quirky, filled with the best and most random things. But most of all, it has beautiful light and incredible textures.
The last two years have been rough, to put it lightly. I've been scrambling to pick up the pieces after a business partnership ended poorly and I was left with a financial mess. But I've been finding my balance again, slowly.
One of my saving graces has been taking the time to do these creative days with only a rough idea, a pile of things, and a bottle of wine. We collaborate on nearly everything we shoot. It's always a fun day and I always end up with a folder full of images to explore with in post. I like to let the image and what I'm thinking and feeling tell me what it wants to be. Something that is mostly lost in today's commercial environment of fast and evergreen content. It's helped me slow back down and remember to make content for myself. I often have have several different versions of an image. Each one able to stand alone from it's siblings. But the real test for me is if it draws me back in after time has passed. A reminder that the client isn't always right and that budgets and marketing aren't the real foundations of creativity.
