Manhattanhenge 2026 looked very different this year.

Despite cloudy weather, thousands of people still came out to witness one of New York City’s most iconic events, where the setting sun aligns perfectly with Manhattan’s street grid.

But there was one major change.

For years, photographers and spectators gathered in the middle of the crosstown streets to capture the perfect Manhattanhenge photo. This year, police actively moved people off the road, making it nearly impossible to recreate those iconic shots from the center of the avenue.

The only truly unobstructed “safe” viewing location was the Tudor City Overpass—and it quickly became overcrowded.

Is this the beginning of the end of Manhattanhenge as we know it?

Most people visit the same NYC viewpoints… but these hidden Manhattan views feel straight out of a movie 🎥🗽

📍 Tudor City Bridge
📍 Roosevelt Island promenade
📍 Pebble Beach in Dumbo
📍 Domino Park waterfront
📍 Brooklyn Heights Promenade
📍 The 7 train platform in Queens
📍 Gantry Plaza State Park
📍 Greenacre Park

Some of the best views of Manhattan are hidden in quiet corners, side streets, subway platforms, and waterfront parks tourists usually walk right past. And honestly… that’s what makes them feel even more magical ✨

June is coming soon, and New York City is about to turn into its most cinematic version — long golden sunsets, rooftop nights, and that effortless summer energy that makes everything feel alive again.

If you’re planning a trip, these are the most iconic places to experience NYC at its best this month:

* Central Park Central Park — The city’s green heart in full bloom. Think early morning walks, rowboats on The Lake, and shaded picnic spots that feel like a break from the skyline.
* Brooklyn Bridge & DUMBO DUMBO — One of the most photographed walks in the world. Go early for sunrise over the bridge, or stay for golden hour in Brooklyn Bridge Park with skyline views that feel unreal.
* High Line High Line — An elevated park built on historic rail tracks, lined with wildflowers, art installations, and sweeping views over Chelsea and the Hudson River.
* Times Square Times Square — Loud, bright, chaotic, and still one of the most iconic intersections in the world. At night in June, it feels like pure electric energy.
* Governors Island Governors Island — A short ferry ride from Manhattan that feels like a reset button: bikes, hammocks, art installations, and uninterrupted skyline views without the noise.
* Edge NYC (Hudson Yards) Edge Observation Deck — A glass-floored sky deck suspended above the city. Come for the adrenaline, stay for the 360° sunset views over Manhattan.
* Top of the Rock Top of the Rock Observation Deck — The classic Midtown view where you get the Empire State Building in frame and the city stretching endlessly into the horizon.
* Brooklyn Bridge Park waterfront Brooklyn Bridge Park — One of the best sunset spots in NYC, especially in June when the light hits the skyline just right.

June in NYC is all about timing — sunrise for calm, sunset for magic, and staying out late because the city doesn’t slow down.
