Ok, So, The New York Times hired me to document the 8pm 50% off Sushi rush at ( japanese supermarkets around the city ).

Trust me, It's a THING.

There are a LOT of people who are FURIOUS at me for shooting this project and publicizing the deals to be had.

To those people, I sincerely hope that the shine of the Times doesn't lead to longer lines..

Sorry, I just take the pictures!

Jokes aside:

There are seemingly few friends at the Japanese grocery store past 8pm ! It's kind of every person for themselves!

The fine folks' frenetic energy for the fresh 50% off raw fish was very  FEELSGOODLETSGO !

LOTS of energy.

Organized confusion and all.

Shout to Brent Lewis at the Times for trusting me with this one!  and YES, I do miss editorial ! This one was super fun ! Also, my dad who has read the Times religiously for as long as I can remember saw the article and FINALLY MAYBE feels like my tuition to School of Visual Arts was worth it !

Thanks also to Anvi Vora and 7marae for all the help! I really appreciate it !

So Russell Westbrook retired after 18 years in the league, and I just wanted to give the dude his flowers.

I shot this for the cover of COMPLEX magazine — I guess 18-ish years ago?? I remember this being the 6th or 7th magazine cover I’d ever shot, and one of the first NBA players I ever photographed.

I THINK this was one of HIS first magazine covers as well, if not the first (feel free to correct me in the comments).

We shot on a farm outside Oklahoma City, and I remember there being TRULY good, creative vibes all around. I haven’t seen or had the chance to work with him since, but this shoot was one of my favorites then — and it still is now. It feels good to have a reason to revisit it.

NEW key art of for 's Foul Play — shot by me.

I’ve photographed a lot of basketball players over the years. Maybe it’s because clients know I won’t “fan out” on set… even when it’s a Carmelo or a Steph.

Or maybe they just enjoy watching me — a certified short king — direct giants.

Who knows.

Either way, it was a real full-circle moment shooting Anthony again. He was one of my first cover subjects back in the day for magazine . We were both just getting started.

Seeing him again all these years later hit different.

Shout to and the team for the gig our snowy travel adventures were 1000000% worth it !

Last few images: our first shoot (around 2011 when we were infants ) and now.

We grew up fast!

Super grandmaster shot for /

I first became aware of Hans around the same time most people did — during the infamous a**l beads chess controversy of 2022. Son Yeah… he was the guy at the center of that storm.

Since then he’s been known as the “bad boy of chess.” Not because the a**l beads thing was real ... (it wasn’t), but because of his outspoken brashness and HYPER-aggressive style — on the board, and DEFINITELY off it. If you’ve never watched interviews with professional chess players, Youd be shocked to hear that 99.9999% are fu***ng boring . Then watch any Hans interview and you’ll see what I mean.

He’s kind of the Conor McGregor of chess… or at least of chess interviews.

When I only knew Hans from his public persona, he wasn’t really my cup of tea. He seemed like an arrogant kid with a big mouth. But the guy was so fu***ng good — 2738 FIDE rated and currently #16 in the world — that I had to respect his chess, even if at that point I didn’t think much of the man.

But when I actually met him and worked with him, he turned out to be very different from the version of him I had in my head.

It actually reminded me of my days shooting for WWE. Sometimes the biggest “heels” — the loudmouth villains everyone loves to hate — are the most interesting people in front of the camera.

And when the cameras stop rolling… they’re often the nicest people in the room.

Sometimes people really can back up the brash s**t that comes out of their mouths.

And I respect that.

On the last slide is a picture of me ( rated 1600 on chess.com AND 1780-ish on lichess.com lol !!!! ) facing down a 2738 FIDE rated Super Grandmaster! Shout to for that shot !

Today i saw the TRUE POWER of a 2700+ rated super grandmaster on the chess board. The chess spoke for its self .
