AmI the only one that gets super excited when new props come??? 😍 like I mentioned in another reel, I select my props very carefully. I don’t like clutter and I don’t like to store absolutely everything that I’ve ever bought. My collection isn’t small but it’s not a warehouse either. Every item is purposefully bought! Thank you and for these awesome, safe props!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

🥹 Just the other day, my grown-ish kids spread out hundreds of printed 4x6’s across our living floor and spent an hour, along with my in laws, passing pictures around, smiling, laughing, remembering their childhoods…😭 it was SUCH an immense pleasure seeing them go through them reminiscing 🥹🥹🥹

If you have been on a fence about a newborn session….Do it.
Even if just a mini. It’s worth it.

And, also, I can’t thank my clients enough for trusting me with their little ones. Especially new clients. It’s a tough decision to make when choosing a person that you’re going to hand your 10 day old over to! I know! I’m a mom of four myself…..

That sleepy smile you catch mid-session? It’s not a dream. It’s not gas. And honestly, it’s not about you yet. 😅

Newborns start smiling in their sleep from day one, but it’s reflexive, not emotional. During REM sleep, random bursts of nervous system activity fire through the same facial muscles used for smiling. No thought, no memory, no feeling behind it. Their brain is essentially running practice drills, wiring up circuits it’ll need later.

The first real smile, a social smile triggered by a face or voice, doesn’t appear until 6-8 weeks old. That’s the one that’s actually for you.

Until then? Just biology doing something beautiful. 🤍

Did you know... what actually goes into each newborn pose?

It’s not just ‘place baby, take photo.’ Every pose starts with settling the baby: swaddling, soothing, sometimes waiting out a feed or a fuss before we even pick up the camera.

Then comes the actual posing. Gentle, millimeter-by-millimeter adjustments to hands, feet, and head position, done slowly and safely, often with a spotter’s hands just out of frame the whole time.

Lighting, blankets, and props get fine-tuned in between every small movement, and if baby stirs, we start that step over.

One pose alone can take 20-30 minutes of this quiet, careful work before it ever looks effortless.

The weirdest things I do as a newborn photographer? 😂

I talk to your baby like they can fully understand me.

I rock back and forth while I’m posing them with you… even when I’m no longer holding them. Apparently, my body doesn’t get the memo. 😂

I make ridiculous little shushing noises.

And I celebrate every fart, burp, stretch, yawn, and smile like we just won an award.

But honestly? There’s a reason for all of it.

Newborn photography is about reading your baby, keeping them comfortable, and working with their little cues to create beautiful, natural images.

The more restless the parents are, the more restless the baby tends to be.

And I don’t mean that as criticism at all.

You’re exhausted. You’re in a new environment. You’re wondering if your baby is going to cooperate. You’re watching the clock. You’re worried they’re crying too much, eating too much, sleeping too little, or that we’re “running out of time.”

But babies are incredibly sensitive to the energy around them.

When you’re tense, constantly checking, trying to help, or feeling like your baby needs to settle right now, they can pick up on that tension.

And then everyone gets more worked up.

So one of the most important things I can do during a newborn session isn’t just pose the baby.

It’s create calm.

We slow down.

We take a breath.

We feed the baby if they need it.

We cuddle.

We wait.

There is no race to get the next photograph.

And when parents relax and trust the process, something often changes.

The baby relaxes too.

That’s why I always tell my clients:

You don’t have to make your baby behave for their newborn session.

You just have to show up, trust me, and let me do what I know how to do.

Your baby doesn’t need a perfect session.

They just need a calm room, a little patience, and someone who knows how to read them.

That’s what I offer after so many years of photographing little ones: you can completely relax and know that your baby is my top priority.

Your baby’s due date is all we need to get you on the calendar.

From there, the process is simple:

01 — Reserve your due date + choose your collection
02 — Baby arrives + you let me know
03 — We choose the perfect session date
04 — Come to the studio with your baby + diaper bag
05 — I handle the posing, styling, wraps + everything in between
06 — Choose your favorite images
07 — Receive your beautifully finished gallery

Your due date reservation gives us the flexibility to work around your baby, rather than making you stress about predicting an exact session date months in advance.

Because the newborn stage is already a lot. Booking your photos shouldn’t be. ✨
