Marcus came to me for studio headshots.
We ended up in a park.
When we first talked, he had a clear picture in his head: clean background, studio, professional. But the more we talked about his work and who he wanted to reach, the more it seemed like the studio wasn’t quite it. So we found a mansion in a local park that could stand in for a high-end home, and we shot outside.
In the end, the images he chose were the ones with soft green behind him.
This is why I do a planning call before every session. It’s not necessarily to create a shot list. It’s to find out what we’re actually making.
Marcus showed up prepared and open, which is the best possible combination, and you can see it: this is a photograph of a person you’d want to work with. A real human.
That’s the whole job.
