I love it when a shoot turns out better than you anticipated. This shoot with Anna was purely for practice. A few weeks after the one with Anastasia. I almost never photograph the high-fashion types. No real reason. It just doesn't work out that way. Hope it does more in the future!

I had the loveliest shoot with Anastasia of EMG Models in New York. It was really just to break the rust off of my skills. I didn't really expect anything. But I did! These would look great for a Christian Dior for sunglasses ad.... Which these sunglasses were... 😎

10 years ago, I did my first 'concept' shoot. It's the kind of shoot where you have an idea and you want to bring it to life. It can be hard and intimidating. Depending on the complexity. Which, mine, and the quality I wanted to achieve, was. For me at least...

Because I had picked my first DSLR about 6 months previously. I had never hired a model before. I never hired a makeup artist/hair stylist before. I had some experience with directing with some of the group photo shoots. But not by myself.

And the original model I hired for the shoot cancelled on me the night before! I called several models the night before and Fallon was the one I most wanted to work with. Though, I had never seen her do the type of work I had planned. But I'm quite a fantastic judge of talent. And I knew Fallon could do it.

What happened afterwords was pretty fantastic as well. The name I made for myself. The people who wanted to work with me. Amazing! Read about it on my blog:

Totally busy and crazy schedule this week! I had a big shoot this week on top of moving to a new home last weekend! Exhausted but the shoot was amazing! Can't post images from that shoot right now. But the shoot became all about the hair stylist. I wrote a blog article about some of my favorites styles over the years. Read and enjoy!

Working on a big shoot and planning wardrobe. It's sort of fun. It's how I start creating my art. Colors. Styles. I tend to gravitate certain designers and mostly, because I can rent the wardrobe for reasonable pricing! Some of my favorite designers as you'll see in my portfolio: Monique Lhuillier, Kate Spade and Black Halo is becoming a new favorite. Wait for the new shoot!

Two years ago this month, I rebooted my Instagram and just so happened, this week was my 100th posting since then. What's happened in two years?

In some ways, a lot. And in some ways, not that much. But the thing is: much of the time you just have to hang in there and keep doing your best. Things happen that you can't see. Behind the curtains.

But when the curtains open, you got to be ready!
