π¨π¨ Severe Weather Outbreak Expected Today for Parts of Oklahoma & Texas π¨π¨
π Areas at Risk:
Southern Oklahoma
North & Northwest Texas
Eastern Texas Panhandle
π A major severe weather event is expected this afternoon through tonight across the southern Plains. This includes the potential for very dangerous storms that may bring the following hazards:
π¨ WIND: Destructive gusts between 80β100 mph possible
πͺοΈ TORNADOES: A few tornadoes may form, especially during the afternoon and early evening
π§ HAIL: Extremely large hail up to 3β5 inches in diameter is likely (thatβs softball size)
β° When:
Storms begin: Mid to late afternoon
Peak severe threat: Late afternoon into evening
Storms continue overnight into parts of east Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and possibly into Arkansas and Louisiana
π‘οΈ Conditions:
Very hot and humid air will help fuel explosive storm development
Storms may start off as isolated supercells, then quickly merge into fast-moving, powerful lines of storms capable of widespread damage (called a derecho)

Have multiple ways to get warnings this afternoon and evening (weather radio, phone alerts, TV)
Secure loose outdoor items and stay weather-aware
Review your tornado safety plan if you live in a mobile home or vulnerable structure
