-What’s Going On:

Clouds and storms from last night are still moving across parts of KS and TX Panhandle.

Later today, strong heating and a weak boundary in southwest KS/northwest OK could spark new storms.

If storms form, a few could become supercells, capable of producing:

🧊 Large hail

🌪️ Possibly rotating storms

-Uncertainty:

Forecast models don’t fully agree on how many storms will form.

If storms do develop, conditions are favorable for them to turn severe.

A front has pushed south this morning and will stall over the southern High Plains. This will be the focus for new storms later today.

📍 Where:
New Mexico high terrain into the Texas Panhandle and northwest Texas
Scattered storms also possible farther east into Oklahoma

⏰ Timing:
Afternoon into evening

💨 What to Expect:
Isolated large hail with the first storms
Storms could group together later, bringing more of a damaging wind and flooding threat.
Oklahoma storms may be weaker overall but could still produce gusty winds and small hail

There’s a risk of severe thunderstorms late this afternoon and tonight in parts of the Central and Southern High Plains. These storms could bring large hail, damaging winds, and potentially even a tornado or two.

📍 What to Expect:

Large to very large hail (some storms could have hailstones over 2 inches!)
Severe winds up to 60-80 mph
A few isolated tornadoes may form, especially during the early evening

Where:

Areas across the eastern Colorado, western Kansas, and Texas Panhandle will be at the highest risk.

Timing:

Storms will start to develop late afternoon and could last through the night

Widespread showers and storms are ongoing this morning in parts of Kansas and Missouri. While most of this activity is not severe, it’s helping to push a front south that will set the stage for more storms later today.

📍 What to Expect This Afternoon:

Scattered thunderstorms are likely to pop up this afternoon from the Southern Plains through the Midwest and into parts of the Appalachians.
Some storms could produce:
🔸 Strong wind gusts (wet microbursts)
🔸 Isolated hail

💡 Most storms won’t be severe, but a few could briefly pack a punch. The warm air higher up in the atmosphere will help limit how intense these storms get overall

A significant severe weather event is expected this afternoon and evening. Here's what could happen:

💨 Damaging Winds:
Widespread wind gusts up to 70–100 mph (strong enough to knock down trees & power lines)

🧊 Large Hail:
Hail up to 2 inches or more in diameter

🌪️ Tornadoes:
A few tornadoes are also possible with early supercells

🚨🚨 Severe Weather Outbreak Expected Today for Parts of Oklahoma & Texas 🚨🚨

📍 Areas at Risk:

Southern Oklahoma

North & Northwest Texas

Eastern Texas Panhandle

🟠 A major severe weather event is expected this afternoon through tonight across the southern Plains. This includes the potential for very dangerous storms that may bring the following hazards:

💨 WIND: Destructive gusts between 80–100 mph possible
🌪️ TORNADOES: A few tornadoes may form, especially during the afternoon and early evening
🧊 HAIL: Extremely large hail up to 3–5 inches in diameter is likely (that’s softball size)

⏰ When:

Storms begin: Mid to late afternoon

Peak severe threat: Late afternoon into evening

Storms continue overnight into parts of east Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and possibly into Arkansas and Louisiana

🌡️ Conditions:

Very hot and humid air will help fuel explosive storm development

Storms may start off as isolated supercells, then quickly merge into fast-moving, powerful lines of storms capable of widespread damage (called a derecho)

⚠️ What to Do:

Have multiple ways to get warnings this afternoon and evening (weather radio, phone alerts, TV)

Secure loose outdoor items and stay weather-aware

Review your tornado safety plan if you live in a mobile home or vulnerable structure

Stay safe and alert today, this is a serious setup
