Thousand Islands yesterday: Busy day in the nest. The female Osprey is feeding her insatiably hungry chicks with a fresh catch, while Dad is already taking off to go find more food. Ospreys generally mate for life, and some can live to be 20 years old, although 7 to 10 years is average.

I'm so proud of Danielle. She's in NYC right now shooting a major 'blockbuster boxing event' at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, fresh off her just winning a prestigious award from the Boxing Writers Association of America for best photo of the year. When she's not working as a surgical technologist at a local sports medicine surgery center, she's an in-demand sports photographer. Although we met when she took one of my classes, she's completely self-taught when it comes to sports photography. Her hard work has paid off, and I can't wait to see all the wonderful things she accomplishes going forward.

Powerful winds last night at Charlotte made for some huge waves breaking on the beach, and some people ventured out to enjoy the ocean surf and the beautiful sunset that followed.
