Finally, some good news in the Lost Cleopatra DVD saga. I postponed the release of the DVD some time ago after the discovery of some 43 seconds of footage from the original Cleopatra movie, since, naturally, I wanted to include the footage in my reconstruction. but there was a problem. The owner of the editing system I assembled the reconstruction had moved up north of me, and worse, the Cleopatra files his old Avid system was scattered on several drives which he had put into storage. I had failed to make copies of these files. Worst of all, his computer with the Avid system was malfunctioning 'as if it was filled with glue,' so both he and I waited as a computer repairperson tried to figure out what was wrong. As time passed, my friend concluded the computer may be beyond recovery, and he suggested I bring my 2.2 version of our Lost Cleopatra edit and he would insert the newly found footage via DaVinci on another computer. But, he had a very busy schedule and it would be a couple more months before he had a free weekend and I could ride to his place to get the job done. Driving up Friday night, we worked on the 2.3 version on Saturday. After a few issues, like creating new titles and getting matching tints, were able to insert the footage and output to my portable hard drives. Now, back to finding a DVD manufacturer to output the DVDs.
