Local artist and photographer, Lacie Townsend specializes in the art of Kinusaiga, or "silk painting. This is a 20th-century Japanese art form that creates vibrant, mosaic-like images by tucking fabric scraps into pre-cut grooves in foam board (originally, intricately carved wood). Often called "no-sew quilting" or "fabric painting," this sustainable technique requires no sewing, using textured, layered fabric to form pictures.
