Yesterday, I posted the I had some exciting news from Mariposa County Fair. As an exhibitor, the goal is to have a Best of Show for one of your exhibits. Depending on the show and most fairs, there is only one judge. A single judge could have biases or lean toward specific things. If one thing I of learn during 30+ years of showing photography, judging is very subjective. In come the People Choice Award, this is where the attendees vote on their favorite photograph. For Mariposa County Fair, the attendees voted over a three-day span, and on the last day the ribbon is put on the photograph that won. Yes, one of my pictures won the People Choice Award.

Here is the deal. Below are six of my images that were displayed at the fair. I would be honored if you would try and guess which one won the People Choice Award. In a few days, I will post the image that my FB fans picked and also the one that won The People Choice Award.

Out of 30 some years of showing at local county fairs, this year will be my best year. 13 out of 15 images placed. Mariposa County Fair has a Sweepstake awards. The Purpose of the Sweepstake Award is, it rewards consistence, breadth of skill, and high-volume participation rather than just having a single "Best in Show' item. With that said, I received a Second-Place Sweepstakes Ribbon. This set of images have received Third Place or less. I will be posting later this weekend the images the received first and second place.

If you live in the area, I encourage you to attend the Mariposa County Fair to see my images in person. Like always if you like an image of this post, feel free to share it.

We have a busy weekend ahead. Tonight, I will be heading to Mariposa Fair to see how my images did. Saturday I will be doing things around the homestead, going to Fresno, and ending the day at Bass Lake for some photography. Sunday of course will be church and then heading to the fair with Lori to see Dave Stamey concert. Monday (Labor Day). Relax a little bit and then head to the fair at the end of the day to pickup my images.

OK, enough Astrophotography for now. Now onto Mariposa County Fair. This year I have entered 15 images. 9 enlargements and 6 snapshots. My snapshots images are from my iPhone 14 Pro. 2026 Perseids Meteor Shower, Tenaya Lake, YNP.

These two images are composites of the Perseids Meteor Shower. One camera was pointing toward the heart of Milky Way, and the other camera was pointing toward the other end of the Milky Way.

When I first looked at the images I captured, I only seen two meteors. It wasn't until I processed the images for the Star Trails, that I see there were more meteors. I needed to go back through about 700 images one by one. I found a way to look at each image without processing it. This saved me allot of time.

All in all, I am satisfied with the images that I have created. I have gain allot of knowledge from this outing. I hope you enjoy what you are seeing. Please give me your input, and I would be honored if you share them.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. As I was wrapping up my Perseids Meteor Shower images. I took close to 100 images to create a star trail image. I had looked at these images several times to see if I captured any meteors, and I hadn't seen any. After I had processed the images and stacked them together, I found I captured at least two. With all this said, I will be processing another 700 images, to see what others I have missed.
