Parlour to Parlour

Parlour to Parlour Parlour to Parlour is a video interview and live performance series, focusing on independent musicians, that runs monthly at Popdose.com

Parlour to Parlour initially began as a weekly video interview and live performance series at Popdose.com in 2009, focusing on independent musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, New England, Southern Texas, and ended with a trip to the south of France. After taking a break in 2010 to recharge and refocus, Parlour to Parlour returned in 2011 as a monthly series at

Popdose.com focusing exclusively on musicians in the San Francisco Bay Area community.

2012 marked another period of rest, during which time we explored the possibilities that may be out there to keep this vital series sustainable in 2013. In January 2013, we announced the new home of Parlour to Parlour, at the spiritual home of the San Francisco independent music scene - the monthly Seaweed Sway showcase at the Make-Out Room. Live tapings happen at 8:00 PM on the third Sunday of the month. Keep checking this space for updates on our progress, as well as news, photos and factoids on past and present Parlour to Parlour subjects. Thanks for watching, reading and listening. Be well.

The great Dave Mihaly is the subject of the final Parlour to Parlour episode. It's a two-part episode, so give yourself a little extra time to savor it.

Spend enough time checking out live music in the San Francisco Bay Area and eventually you’re bound to cross paths with master percussionist and composer Dave Mihaly. A long-time San Francisco resident by way of New Jersey, Dave has been adding his unique take on rhythm to a wide variety of jazz, ro...

Some news for you all:

First, I'd like to say thank you to all of you for watching and giving the artists I've spotlighted a chance to be heard.

Second, you can expect to see the final episode of 2013 next week, featuring one of the Bay Area's finest percussionist/composers - a veteran of the scene, a gentle soul and a true giant of his craft.

And with that, I'd also like to inform you all of a decision I have made with regard to the series. Given some recent life changes, I plan on taking an indefinite hiatus from Parlour to Parlour. I just bought a house in Oakland, so that will take some adjusting. As I type, I am taking a quick break from the seemingly endless task of unpacking boxes and rearranging things. Moreover, I have been playing keyboards in a band called Sugar Candy Mountain and I just started my own record, so I'd really like to keep the momentum going in those areas given how enjoyable the recording and performing process is. Add to that my day job and a slightly longer commute, and something had to go.

We've had a good run with Parlour to Parlour since 2009 with 50 episodes (counting episode 0 and the forthcoming episode 49) and lots of good will built up in the community. My new way of serving the community is providing stable and affordable housing via the extra rooms in my house to some good people who have contributed to this place I love so much. Of course, that's not to say I'll give up making these videos entirely. I may revive the series in the future, but when, I cannot say. For now I have to ride things out and see where I land. And enjoy the journey, of course.

Episode 49 drops next week!

Thank you, and be well.

Now hear this! Annie Girl & The Flight is the subject of the 48th episode of Parlour to Parlour. Thank you, Annie, for sharing some time with us.

With a sound that combines the hypnotic vibe of Mazzy Star and the drones of John Cale-era Velvet Underground, Annie Girl and The Flight soar like no other.

It's here - the 47th episode of Parlour to Parlour featuring slouching, swearing, sunglasses, and B. Hamilton.

It's here - the 47th episode of Parlour to Parlour featuring slouching, swearing, sunglasses, and B. Hamilton.

The shamelessly rock n' roll Ryan Parks of B. Hamilton sat down for an f-bomb laden Parlour to Parlour interview. Cover your kids' ears for this one.

Best quote from the upcoming Episode 47: "My cat's as***le is going right into the camera."

The 46th episode of Parlour to Parlour is now live. How did it take so long to get Debbie Neigher in this series?
