Anyone who knows me well knows I adore an Ace Hardware. The small-town feel of even city Ace Hardwares reminds me of my hometown, and any place I can shop for plants, canning supplies, and tools all in one spot is my kind of place.

Sebastopol Hardware did NOT disappoint...they even have a pet center squeezed in there!

Spring weather means....it's event planning season!

Back in October I got to photograph three different locations with Special Events. At their yard, I got to see where the equipment is stored and the trucks are loaded up. At their warehouse, I got to see DIFFERENT equipment and different trucks (and teams busy at work in the nice fall events weather). For my last stop I headed out to a parking lot where they were installing an ice rink! As a hockey fan, I've never given much thought to how all California's seasonal skating rinks are constructed. So cool to learn!

I used to do a lot of hotel photography, but I sort of fell out of it post-pandemic. I didn't consciously stop, but I changed my business format a bit and just quit doing them as often.

When a regular client asked me to travel down to SoCal to capture Tru by Hilton, I was thrilled! I dropped my kiddo off for a couple of nights at grandma's farm halfway down the state, then made a beeline for Norco. I just spent one night in their hotel, but it was such an unusual thing to be without my child (we'd only had 4 nights apart in 5 years, before this trip)...it was a treat!

Most people know I love kids. Most people also know I have a soft spot for neurodiverse kiddos. This October photoshoot at OT Park in Morgan Hill was such a great way to combine my work with my interests! I even got to bring my own child along as a "model" for the day.

Something about this photoshoot with the team of Coastal Fabrication Co down in Sand City really brought me back to my time capturing my grad school thesis in Peru. Maybe was the industrial textures, the graphic lines of the compositions, or how welcoming all the crew was while being photographed.

There is something so special about tile shops. All the pattern and texture and the inevitable light pouring through the windows.

Tile Fever in Sausalito even had a fluffy model to steal the show!

Getting a bunch of young cousins together for portraits with their grandparents is my ideal kind of chaos! Having all the parents get silly too is just an added bonus.

The coolest part of joining Artist Space Trust at their Rooted & Rising event earlier this month was unexpectedly seeing a pic of me and my kiddo on the screen.

AST creates opportunities for working artists to stay in the Bay, despite the high cost of living. Keeping culturemakers local creates vibrant and relevant cities. The folx at AST have a focus on expanding the community land trust model with an artsy spin, but they also facilitate CalHome funds.

I was lucky enough to buy my home with their first round of that funding 9 months ago! Peep the pic at the end...I passed off my cam to a staff member so I could jump in the CalHome recipient group photo.

My business feels like it has come full circle since 2012. At the start, I photographed people I knew: family, friends, coworkers, fellow students. Now, in 2026, so many of my clients are more than "just" clients. I'm still likely to get my friends and family in front my my lens, but my clients have also BECOME my friends and family. I'm as likely to chat with some of them over tea while I fold kid laundry in my sweatpants as I am to put on real clothes and capture photos for them. My business would probably be an HR person's nightmare...but I ADORE when my life and my work intersect!
